Thread icons

Most of the thread icons disappeared a couple of days ago (when i use my PC to log on).

The only ones that i can now see are:
Post
Thumbs down
Wink
Red Face
Arrow
Thumbs up

The other 7 just have the red X in a white box.
A few of the smileys have gone to.

I haven't changed any settings, yet they are all still there when i use my laptop.

So how do i get them back?

mmm, not just me then, weird that the laptop is fine (same IE / updates etc)

Well, to sum the other thread up:

Some people have the problem, some don't. Doesn't seem to matter which browser or OS one uses although most of the sufferers seem to use IE7. ISP to blame? A number of mods have joined the discussion without shedding any light on the issue (we're still waiting for Colin D, though)

Oh, yes, and AwesomeSarah has "tried rebooting but all it did was hurt my foot"

I'm using IE6, and pretty sure I'm not using the same "ISP" as anyone else (well maybe 1 guy).

This info from DGW in the Freedom thread highlights the oddity of it all:

"Now using SWMBO's laptop with Firefox 3 and CAN see smilies but CAN'T see them on my PC with the same software running."

Hopefully ColinD could wave his magic wand or something...

All my smilies are down, all icons too.
Every post has a white box/red x with 'default' written next to it.
If i hover my cursor over icon boxes the description shows??

The problem seems to be fixed now, but due to the cache settings on the webpage you maybe viewing outdated information.

On the page that isnt displaying things properly, press CTRL F5 at the same time and the icons should return.

Note that the CTRL + F5 thing seems to apply even if you've done a cold start on you system since 19:30 on 26th June 2008.

Ctrl + F5 only a partial fix on mine, some post icons visible but only
this smilie works/is visible in posts????

any suggestions welcome!

The "CTRL F5" seems to of cured it for me.

I've found that CTRL + F5 only fixes those icons already used in the page of the thread you use it in, and doesn't fix them in "reply with quote" or "advanced replay" screens until you fix the icon in a thread.

Cheers Ken, your logic eventually led me to a total fix

For anyone else still having probs, try following:

click on 'post reply', (disabled smilies appear as red x's on right)

click on (more) at bottom of smilie list, expand full smilie list to full screen.

Now do the Ctrl F5, the refreshed smilie list populates with all smilies

etc
