I know one thing i wouldnt be here if it wasnt for the warm welcome i got when i came on here. Just remember you be nice to the new members as you never know when youmight need them!!

Could also mean that the "transient member", registering to put one question and leaving after getting an answer, actually stays with the community.

And as to post-whoring: seems to be ample (and well-exploited) opportunities for that in other sections of Briskoda

Mods...... if any questions are posted in the 'introductions' section, copy it to the right section and put a link in the original thread. That way we can welcome new comers in the welcome thread and the question can be posted in the right place and maybe get more or better answers!

Sorted!

Yes it is a bit of a pain to see 1 page of welcome posts when you log back onto the site.

I'm only going to welcome them now if noone else has done it already

I do think questions should be directed to the relevent forum and try and keep the welcome section just for what it is.

I tend to respond to the odd one if only one or two people have responded.

I used to welcome people, when there was time to do so individually. I do think it's a friendly thing to do, when a person is new and just trying to introduce themselves. I agree I get slightly wound up by the ones who post a request for help along with their introduction, and I do wish they would post it in the correct forum instead. Maybe that would be a good rule ...
