Default Auto switching on the interior lights?

Hello...

I was woundering if there is any option in VAG-COM or else, that enables auto swithing on lights in the dash (interior lights)

I live in Norway and driving through many tunnels. I was hoping that there is an option that can turn the interior lights on then it's dark outside.. Maybe using the rain sensor?

Hope someone will explain this one to me - I'm confused regarding what's wanted

I thought you had to have headlights on at all times in Norway. So would the dash lights not be on all the time?

Or are we talking about the main interior lights? But if these were on in the dark then there would be all sorts of nasty reflections.............

The third option is that I am being particularly stupid and missing the point

I drive with my lights on all the time as it's safer, having been a previous motorbiker I know that I need to be seen on the road................

A small point to note here is that when the lights are on the illumination of the satnav display dims, regardless of whether 'day' or 'night' mode is selected. Thus, when headlights are used as DRLs on a bright day the screen is almost unviewable.

Yes but you can adjust your dash brightness next to the switch below the headlamp switch..............

That's my point. I also drive with the headlights on all the time, but I want my dash to light in tunnels and when it's dark outside WITHOUT having to turn the switch.

I've read that on some models this is possible. A light sensor turn the dash light on when it's dark. Is this possible om my Superb?

Hi Norway and Sweden. Sorry but I'm still not sure about this. I drive nearly all the time with my low beam headlights on here in the Scottish countryside. I have to switch my headlights on and the dash lights come on at the same time. The brightness of the dash lights is adjustable.

When you set off do your headlights automatically come on with the ignition, without physically switching them on? It may be that there is a Scandinavian variant to the models we have in the UK

He means DRLs, then there is no dashboard lighting even when they are on.
I am afraid on Superb the control lights are all wired to the mechanical headlight switch, so unless there is an extra relay somewhere to switch them on separately, it is not possible to keep them on.

Perhaps the "automatic headlights" switch has one that is adaptable via VAG-Com.

I guess if you have some electronics background (or know someone who does), what you can do is to add a MOSFET shorting pins on the switch based on signal from the sun sensor.

Scandinavian-specification cars are equipped with Daylight Running Lights (DRLs - headlights that are permanently on) and UK-specification cars are not.

Is this an option that can be toggled on or off with VAGcom?

DRL's use a separate (12W?) bulb on an Audi, so i assume the superb would be the same .......
so no if they are not fitted as std they cant be just 'turned on', as they are not there.

As we manufacture the lamps I don't believe that these have a DRL function......

The tunnels in Sweden are not so long as in Norway
And when its dark outside its easy to turn the switch
