Default Automatic Locking etc.

Hi all,

I've read in the manual that automatic locking (doors lock when the car reaches 15mph) can be enabled by the Skoda dealer - as I've had a bad experience with my local Skoda dealer and dont really fancy driving out of my way too much, can anyone tell me what needs to be done - and is it something I can do myself?

Also - although the car used to lock itself after 30 seconds, it doesnt seem to do that anymore ... any ideas?

1 last thing .. not sure when this actually started to happen, but theres a slight clonking noise on gentle braking from each side of the car - and seems to be coming from the pillars in the middle of the car - now i'm not exactly certain about the noises exact locale, but it does only happen under gentle braking - i.e. a weight shift toward the front, or gentle ripples in the road.... ??

Thanks in advance ...

Freudy

Automatic locking can be activated by diagnostic equipment.

And I guess thats going to be a chargable service? - tis about time that we were allowed to do things like this for ourselves without having to resort to specialist tools or services.

On the subject of dealers and experiences with such -does anyone have any good stories to tell about the dealers in / about Mansfield? I'm in search of a good, reliable Skoda garage....

Have a search around the site for VAG COM, they you can do it yourself.

And yes it usually is a chargeable service, it takes a technician time to do it and he will want to be paid. But sometimes if you ask whilst its in for a service they may be a little more accomodating.

As for you knocking noise, whats your mileage?

You can change them if you have a laptop and VAG COM. The Skoda diagnostic machine is around £10k to buy,

That sounds like the stuff for me - is there a nice "howto" guide for it - I will probably need cables & stuff - does anyone sell a kit here? Does it affect my warranty? Sorry to ask all these q's - any ideas about the knocking noise?

My local Skoda dealer took about 10 mins to do this along with the Alarm Bleep and charged me nothing, I guess it depends on which dealer you go too?
