What make of orbital polisher would you recommend and which products would you advise a new comer like me to use - Shampoo, polish, tools for washing etc etc. I really would appreciate your advice before spending lots of money on things that are no good. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. Regards John
Expert? Er...........I would very much love to be but really I am just at the beginning and learning all the time but as mdk1 has suggested DW is my new home and you will learn soooo many things on there..........

Your question is a tough one mate as it all depends on budget, car, colour, etc.........over time I have just bought products that I have heard good things about, bought products from the DW classifieds to try out that have been used and are cheaper than buying the product new, then with different customer's cars I try different combinations to try and gauge what works best on that particular car and colour........

I use a UDM and bought this from the USA, as my parents live there, however I will be buying a G220 shortly as I would like to have another machine to cut down on changing pads and polishes on one machine..........I don't have much rotatry experience apart from using a Silverline Polisher which I had borrowed and I can safely say the DA machine is a lot better but then it should be as it cost a lot more......

The key things to realise is that you need a good wash process otherwise any potential correction work you will do could re-occur if you wash the car badly, so first off invest in two buckets, grit guards and some wash mitts, preferrably Lambswool ones.

From there on I would need to know what car you would be doing and what colour it is to suggest good products for it?

Red? Well my friend, you are in the game so to speak........yours would easily come up the same as Tom's and if you read the thread I would use the same products that I used on Tom's however I would more than likley use a different wax set up...........

Make a day of it mate, I can turn your car around in a day no problem........

I think this a "filter" that sits almost at the bottom of the bucket. It keeps the grit at the bottom of the bucket, allowing you to use clean water every time you dunk the wash mitt.

I have one of these in each of my Wash Buckets to aid with keeping dirt away from the Wash Mitts:

Funny you should say that, Tom put them near the car but didn't put them on the car as I knew he would suggest we should swap...............

One of the Octy 18s went on the Superb, but it really wasn't photo worthy!
