Default changing chairs.....

I am nearly 100% convinced of a Superb how ever one thing niggles slightly at the back of my mind, and that is the chairs.

After the test drive I sat back in my golf and to me personally ( I don't want to re-open the comfy chair debate) the chairs are just not as comfortable i think its the fact that they are less bolstered and covered in different fabric that bothers me..... anyway to get to the point of this thread.

Does anyone know or have an inkling if it would be possible to whip out the Superb chairs (really only the front driver and passenger - as long as the colours match i'll be leaving the rear bench alone) and replace them with the Golf MK 4 Recaros (the ones without “Recaro” stitched into them)...????

I have had a quick look and from what I remember of the superb the bases looked very similar - so is it an unbolt slide out slide in jobbie...???

Many Thanks,

Seb

Probably seeing as there probably the same as Passat,s with just a lesser seat cloth.
I have to say I find the Superb seats fantastic for long journeys, but yes not so containing as a sportier seat.

Andy thanks for you reply.

I was thinking the same thing about the golf - passat - superb link, just hope it's that simple .....

Everyone else I've spoken to thinks the Superb seats are well superb - but just for me I've become so used to having a sports bolstered seat I find it almost strange to sit in a 'normal' seat..... I think the last car I had that didn't have bolstered seats was 4 years ago .... many thanks agian

Golf Mk4 Recaros are only Recaros if it says 'Recaro' on them, otherwise they are VW sports seats. I don't think they'll fit the superb but ones from an RS4 might.

Thanks GTI TD for letting me know of the points being made here in "Changing Chairs" . Maybe we should speed up the music for the chair changes

You want supportive seats?

Get some Gmbh seats for the RS4, awesome Recaro buckets in black leather, will fit into the Superb with the std RS4 base frames

As featured in Ed Jacksons MK4 Golf, well nice.

I am currently suffering with a trapped nerve in my back and find the seat squab too long and the lumber support ineffective for me, giving me major pain.

So I'm looking into changing the seat(s) to something a little shorter or adjustable (Recaro's?)

Which of the following will fit without modification into the Superb? :

Golf
Passat
A4
A6

BTW the rear seats are non folding (if any of the rears will fit)

I used to own a Bora before the Superb and that had the VW Sports Seats in it, not the Recaro ones.

The Superb is a different 'kettle of fish' in that it's not a 'sporty' car so you can't compare the seats as they are at different ends of the scale so to speak.

As Lummox has stated the RS4 seating options look like the only realistic base to fit some nice 'fitted' seats into the Superb but...........don't you think they will look a little daft?!?!?!?

I thought the Superb (and Passat ) would only be compatible with Audi A6 seats... certainly thats the case for the rears. I quite fancy some W12 Recaros myself.

Would a CG-lock help in this case?
Medical/Posture - CG-Lock EU - enhancing safety and enjoyment of your vehicle
Might be worth a try before going to the expense of new seats?
No personal experience myself, but maybe others can comment?

I found my posture improved with the CG Lock in the Focus - the seats gave me lower back ache before the CG Lock. The Passat seats though are much better with a very adjustable lumbar support!

I don't think the CG-lock will be much use, as most of my journeys are motorway and duel carriageways, so being held stationary in the seat isn't the issue, its getting the lumbar support right.
The only way to do this will be with the 'airbag' type found on Recaro's etc, rather than the fairly crude cam type adjustment on the Superb.

I was thinking along the lines of the Recaro Orthopede:
http://www.autosportgallery.com/orthoped.htm

or Recaro Style:
http://www.autosportgallery.com/style.htm

As much as i like the RS4 ones i agree they would look out of place, it would be nice to match them all up (or fronts at least) hence the idea of VAG ones.

Anyone know if folding seats can be retro fitted (are A6 folding anyway?) or are any of the other VAG rear seats fixed anyway?
