| Occasionally, the top part of the display is not coming on. This is the radio/CD bit which says which station / CD you are playing. I know it doesn't come on if the radio is off, but mine intermittantly doesn't come on when the radio/CD is on. Switching the radio off/on makes no difference, the same goes for restarting the car. Seems to want to sit a while before sorting itself. I'm sure I had this in my old Superb, though that was only once or twice in 13,000 miles - this has happened about 10 times or so in the 1000 miles I've had the car. It's going into Farmers Skoda (Leicester) tomorrow for other warranty work, so wondering if I should add this to the list, or is it just me doing something wrong? Think mine is a Friday car - there was nowt wrong with my 04 reg Superb, but this one ('55) has several annoying niggles. It has a few creaks/squeaks too, which I think is very poor considering the car has only done 8400 miles. My last car - Saab 9-5 had no creaks/sqeaks/groans at all, and that had done 147,000 when I sold it. I'm sure the ride on this car isn't as good as my old Comfort - both have 17 inch wheels, so surely there shoudln't be a difference????

| To answer my own questions - Skoda Leicester think I may need a new MaxiDot display. I know you can turn the display off - but that's the entire display - not just the radio bit at the top. The chap I spoke to thinks the Edition 100 may have had a sports suspension on it. Not sure if this is right or not. The Edition 100 brochure I have doesn't mention this, though it doesn't mention other extras the car has. They had a brand new Superb in the showroom - mine definately sits lower than that. I hope it is standard, as I was told the car was standard apart from the badges being taken off at the rear. Got a 17BHP petrol Fabia as a courtesy car (was expecting an Octavia). Anyway, managed 46mpg on the way home which is more than I get in the Diesel Superb!

| I would be surprised if they replace the whole Multi Dot Matrix display, sounds more like a connection problem to me? As for the suspension, the Edition 100 will surely have a different suspension set up to a normal Superb but it wouldn't be much lower or stiffer than standard? Someone on here driving an Edition 100 should be able to confirm this? I am not as lucky as some people to have an Edition 100, LOL!!

| Ah well - none the wiser for the trip to the garage. At least they sorted one of the warranty problems out of three it went in for. ![]()

| Hi there, I too have a ed100. What warranty work have you had done? just so I know what to look out for. Regarding some of your comments... I agree that there are a few more sqeaks and creaks than on other superbs (probably due to the limited numbers made meaning they were less practiced and putting the "custom interior in). On the suspension side.... I too am convinced that my suspension is slightly lower than on other superbs although I haven't compared directly. My main complaints at the moment are: i) a very slight grinding on the breaks.... it is not totally smooth like other new cars I have driven ii.) when the car is first started as you lift the clutch there is a slight scrapping sound as it engages(worrying) iii.) the seat belt mounts in the car are very noisy (squeaks again... tedious) iv.) there is a very slight metallic noise as you accelerate.... could well be part of the turbo or just a feature of the engine as I haven't driven a tdi before If anyone could shed any light on any of these faults (or is it just part of the car)~I would be very grateful cheers, Jim |

The interior is only a different colour and would be no different to fitting another leather interior on an elegance model. As for your squeeks and rattles, get down the dealer and make your problems concerns know now as opposed to later.

Bonnet release thing not popping out of grille - fixed Maxi Dot Display - radio portion at top intermittantly doesn't display - no problem found "Lights Failure" - get this on most journeys over 10 miles, though can't see any bulbs that have gone. They couldn't find any problems either. I'd have thought the VAG Com thing would have picked up the fact that that error has flashed up 20 times or so in the month I've had the car. It must just look for errors at the point in time it's looking for the errors. It's probably a loose wire or something. As for the rattles and squeaks - I've sussed yesterday and this morning where the worst two are coming from: One from the left hand side rear window when it's up. One from the central console which seems to vibrate at certain revs. There's another which I think my be to do with the seat belt mounting, and I need to check that the spare wheel is properly secured, as I have heard other bumps when going over particularly poor roads. I've also got to get some paintwork sorted, as some div at the Supplying dealer screwed new holes into the back of the car instead of using the ones that were made when the car was manufactured. The paint is now flaking away round the hole and I can see bare metal. As I didn't buy the car off that dealer, I've probably got no comeback, though it will probably cost a couple of hundred plus to sort. Needless to say, these problems are spoiling my enjoyment of the car. None of them are serious. They're all just niggling, annoying problems.

| [quote=kprm77]It was in for the following: "Lights Failure" - get this on most journeys over 10 miles, though can't see any bulbs that have gone. They couldn't find any problems either. . Had exactly the same last autumn on my newly bought 03 Superb Elegance 2.8 tiptronic. (see Nov. posts for ideas and suggestions). Two garages (including Skoda dealer) couldn't work out why. I discovered the cause when driving in deep countryside one night when I put the headlights on Could scarcely see more than 10 yards in front of me. Transpired it was the automatic headlamp leveling adjusters which weren't working correctly. You don't notice it in town because of ambient light. It might be worthwhile checking that your healights are readjusting - use a garage wall and you should see the beams rise. Best of luck. |

| Thanks for the info Westerdam - I think I'll start a new thread for the "Lights Failure" thing. I'd be surprised if it was the headlamp leveling adjusters, as the warning comes up on mine whether I've got the lights on or not.

Precisely. That's why it took me 4 weeks after purchase to discover that it was a headlight related problem. All previous mileage was either in town or during daylight! And strangely the warning buzzer and maxidot symbol would come on at start-up and again after about 10 miles! So on mine, at least, there was an indicated fault although the lights hadn't been switched on. ![]() | |

| I'll check mine against the garage to see if I can see them rising. The "lights failure" message doesn't come on at startup - comes on anywhere between 9 and 30 miles, though some journeys it doesn't come on at all. (Came on at 13 miles this morning with the lights off on the M6).
