Default Planning to replace HID dipped beam, any advice?

Hi all,

This is my first post on the board which I have joined as I recently bought a Tdi 130 superb in comfort trim.

My offside dipped beam has stopped working and the message lights failure appears on the display when the dipped beam is turned on. Having checked the fuses are okay, I am planning to change the bulb at the weekend. I believe they are D2S HID xenon bulbs. Having bought a pair of bulbs, I was planning to replace both.

Following Baker21's advice, I am planning to take the bumper off to get at the light fittings and bulbs. Thread here - http://briskoda.net/forums/superb/headlights-removal/98152/#post1131612

Has anyone done this recently and what advice might you have for me?

Cheers,
Paul.

Great forum by the way.

Just follow my response mate and you won't go wrong, if you get stuck taking the bumper off then give me a call on my mobile (I can PM you my number if it helps) and you will be fine......

Just make sure you don't drop the bulbs!!!

I second that for Mr.Baker.. It's an easy job to do as long as you maintain normal carefulness and common sense. After lamp installation make sure you check the light pattern and adjust if necessary. Mine did a minor change on light pattern after re-installation (lamps in a bit different position?) and that had to be corrected.
Luckily it can be done via adjusting screws as long as the engine is not running and no Vag-Com is needed.

Thanks guys,

Getting the front bumper off really is as easy as Baker21 says, and working with the front light clusters is a simple job once its off.

Job done.
