It will be a standard MFD unit, the same as used in the mk1 octavia and fabia. Some pics in this installation article Octavia-vRS.com - MFD Install Guide

I know the MFD2 is made by blaupunkt, I think the MFD is aswell.

The MFD and MFD2 are very different units, the MFD2 will not fit the superb due to its shape and the lack of canbus on the superb.

ok, picked up my new superb (pics to follow in other thread)

went to an in car entertainment place to get a tv tuner installed and they told me that they can't disable whatever it is that would put the video off if you start moving.... useless. Any ideas?

Can anyone recommend a supplier/installer who could do this for me? I live in Central Scotland, but I'm in Sheffield and Nottingham every week.

It depends on the system, but most systems that let you display video work by a simple connection to the handbrake switch. Of course, with such a simple system like this there's a very easy way of bypassing this feature.

However, you'll be hard pressed to find an installer who will do this knowingly as it means me or she is supplying you with something that enables you to break the law... it is illegal in this country to have "moving pictures or images within the drivers field of vision whilst the vehicle is in motion". This of course means those in-dash DVD players cannot be used for anything except sat nav or radio/cd/mp3 etc unless they can feed rear screens independently of the front.

OE systems like those in BMW's and Mercedes' (and I suspect VAG) I believe have a connection to the ECU and as such are much harder to bypass.

I have by-passed my system on the DX unit to play DVD on the move but 'keep it on the downlow as it's not exactly street legal'........

I have retro-fitted the DX into my Comfort specified Superb so I don't know if that makes any difference but the wiring harness came with a large red switch that I just by-passsed.........

Thought your's was an edition 100 Simon ?

I think the unit uses the gala signal to detect the movement of the car. If you can disable the signal the satnav screen updates will be a little jerkier as it's not using the speed of the car to approximate your location between GPS updates.....although I may be wrong on this.

Edition 100? I wish mate...........

Gala setting rings a bell mate and that could well be that big red switch, I have no 'jerkiness' on mine and can run my PS2 / DVD Player when the car is stationary or moving........

What've you done? Have you finally found a ride height that will crunch every speed bump in it's path?

Slight thread hi-jack but basically after a 'brisk' drive home one evening and a little 'flight' over a hill in the road it would appear that after 140k my lower arms needed replacing which has now been done and it feels solid as a rock now, my mate couldn't believe that they had never been changed since new so I am happy with that and the coilies were wound down all the way a few weeks ago so it can't go any lower at the front now............

I would have thought you would be able tp cut the gala wire and fit a switch, similar to the plug and play loom which people use to retro-fit the MFD?
