| ŠkodaAuto New Vehicle Warranty ŠkodaAuto are pleased to provide a two-year unlimited mileage warranty against defects in material of manufacture on all its new vehicles. In addition ŠkodaAuto U.K. provides a further warranty on new vehicles supplied by them, through their appointed retailer network which is valid until the vehicle has completed 60,000 miles or the end of the third year, whichever is the sooner. In the event of a vehicle becoming defective due to faulty manufacture or material, it must be promptly returned to an appointed Škoda Retailer or Repairer (i) where it will be repaired free of charge. The warranty commences on the date of delivery to the first user. It is transferable to a second and subsequent owner on completion of the transfer form contained in the customer literature wallet. To obtain the full benefit of this warranty it is essential that the vehicle is properly serviced in accordance with the Manufacturer's instructions. The warranty will not apply: To any component that has failed due to neglect, or misuse, or has been materially altered or modified without the written approval of ŠkodaAuto. Where failure has occurred as a direct result of a lack of or improper servicing. To components that are not of the manufacturer's selection or approval and damage or defects caused by them. (ii) To damage or defects due to: (iii) - installation of accessories not approved by ŠkodaAuto. (iv) - failure by the customer to comply with the operating instructions in the owner's instruction manual and service schedule book etc. To any component that has failed as a result of accidental breakage, fair wear and tear or where work undertaken on the vehicle is reasonably considered to be of a service nature (including but not limited to the following examples: Filters, spark plugs, drive belts, bulbs, wiper blades, clutch and brake linings, catalytic converter, glass, tyres, wheel alignment and balancing, head lamp alignment, adjustment of doors and bonnets including mechanisms, fuel system cleaning, brake system cleaning and adjustment). Paint and Body Warranty All new vehicles supplied by ŠkodaAuto are provided with a three year unlimited mileage warranty against defects in the paintwork. Any manufacturing defect in the paint finish or application should be reported to an appointed Škoda Retailer or Repairer where it will be rectified at no cost. (v) In addition ŠkodaAuto are pleased to provide a 10-year anti-perforation warranty. This offers assurance that any defect in the corrosion protection applied to the body panels, that results in perforation corrosion is rectified at no cost. The paint and body warranties will not apply: Where damage is due to external factors, improper use or inadequate care. To any area which has not been repaired promptly and professionally in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Where corrosion has occurred as a result of the fitting of non-Škoda approved parts or accessories. If previous repairs have been effected utilising techniques for body repairs not approved by ŠkodaAuto. Where defects have not been reported promptly to an appointed Škoda Retailer or Repairer. (vi) Settlement Any dispute relating to or arising under the terms of this warranty shall be referred in the first instance to an appointed Škoda Retailer or Repairer who will where appropriate liaise with Škoda Auto. This warranty is the current one and is dated 01/04. 2. There are a number of minor but subtle differences between the wording of this and the previous warranty, ie 04/02, as follows: (i) or Repairer added. (ii) and damage or defects caused by them added. (iii) - repairs by a workshop not authorised by SkodaAuto deleted. (iv) parts now reads accessories. (v) or Repairer added. (vi) or Repairer added. (vii) The SMMT’s Consumer Affairs Department has been replaced by the SMMT’s Regulation and Compliance Unit, New Car Code Conciliation Service. The SMMT New Car Code of Practice is a brand new consumer code of practice developed to ensure SMMT members maintain the highest levels of service to their customers. The Code has been approved by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) under its new Consumer Codes Approval Scheme (CCAS) - a scheme to approve and promote voluntary consumer codes of practice that set high standards of customer service. SMMT's Regulation and Compliance Unit monitor member performance under the strict terms and conditions of the Code and provide a consumer conciliation service.
