| Many owners find the "bing-bong" seat belt reminder very annoying and wish to disable it. Whilst it is possible to disable the warning light using VAG-COM software it is not possible to simply turn of the noise. WARNING: It is not known if the following procedure will effect the performance of secondary restraint systems and airbags in the event of an accident. Never drive without a seatbelt except in circumstances permitted by the law. 1) Raise the seat to its maximum height, following the instructions in the owners' hand book 2) Open the rear door of the vehicle and look under the front seat from the rear footwell. 3) You will see a cable loom going under the seat and connecting to the base of the seat belt harness. 4) Disconnect the loom 5) The warning chime should now be disabled. |

| There is a safer way: 1. Open door 2. Get in and sit down. 3. Put seatbelt on. 4. Key in ignition and switch on No annoying bonks ![]()

| In a recent accident involving the Octavia of a Briskoda member, the passenger seat was empty yet both airbags went off. This could indicate that airbags are deployed regardless of seatbelt status. |
