Pulsing Aircon

Featured Replies

Turned my aircon on last night for a bit and it seemed to be pulsing. The blower didnt blow consistently, it just sort of blasted then eased off then blasted and so on.

Thought it was a bit weird that's all, so was wondering if it was normal. The car was hot, so it was trying to cool the car quite alot.

I'll try leaving it on for longer and see if it settles to a constant blow next time.

Must say I did notice this when i bought the car last summer, but haven't really noticed it again since then as I've been heating not cooling.

Is it just the system diverting air cyclicly (spelling?!) to all the different vent systems?

Any thoughts would be welcome.

P.S. It had a new pollen filter last September, and it did it then.

Try pressing all the buttons on and off usually helps when mine goes a bit mental

OK this is getting annoying now.

The scatching noise from begind the glovebox has got louder. But goes away temporarily if i switch between recirc air and fresh.

I have a fault code up for the V71 (airflow flap positioning motor).

Whats goin on! its really annoying me!

help!

Resetting the flap motors with a VAGCOM might help.

Turns out the source may be the duff V71.

Ordered one yesterday from Skoda for £70ish, and will be arriving/fitting tomorrow.

I shall let you know if it solves the mousy/scratchy noises and the pulsing blower. I expect it will....

Also got some new rad mounts, but not looking forward to doing that job as much!

I also have the 'pulsing' air-con, even with air-con off. no idea wot it is either. and 'the mouse in the glovebox' to- there was a rather funny thread about that a while ago...several folk, including me, thought it was a rodent!

I can now confirm that it is a faulty V71 motor (fresh air/recirc flap motor), that causes the 'mousy' noises and the pulsing aircon.

I replaced mine yesterday, and it has cured the problems. The old one just did what it wanted and made lots of odd noises!!

Part was about £70, but fitting was a complete nightmare! Beware, if you have big hands, or lose your temper easily! I almost flipped out trying to get the new unit to fit back in.

If anyone wants some tips on changing it, just let me know, as i spent hours yesterday fannying about!

Thanks Bodge, I'll get to it, the kids have smaller hands... and anyway, you can't put them up chimneys now!

Hay bodge,

I could do with some info on how to change the recirc flap. I know this is a old post but any advise on this would be fantastic.

Cheers, Drew

haha....the old ****** V71

Had the same problem,is not that hard to replace.

Try to replace the V68 motor without taking out the dash, every single one said is impossible,I did it,without taking anythig out.

this is a brief diagram with all climatronic motors

That is absolutely fantastic,

Just a few more questions though, it mentions that if i get a warning when i turn on the ignition i need to reset some setting, Will i need a Vag-com for this?

I will be ordering my new v71 i think..... cheers Lads....
