OK as you might have seen I had a mystery engine light come on the other day.

I scanned it with vag com and it came up with this

VAG-COM Version: Release 311.2-N

Control Module Part Number: 038 906 019 LA

Component and/or Version: 1,9l R4 EDC 0400SG 5405

Software Coding: 00102

Work Shop Code: WSC 13765

Additional Info: TMBWU46Y944076110 SKZ7Z0D2414884

1 Fault Found:

17678 - Pump-Jet Valve: Cylinder 4 (N243): Regulation Range Exceeded

P1270 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

I did some logs today and got these

CAME OUT AS GIBBERISH PLEASE SEE BELOW

Right it all came out as gibberish.

I logged GROUP 13 on VAG COM at Idle.

And got this

Cyl 1 Cyl 2 Cyl 3 Cyl 4

-2.8 to +2.8 mg/H -2.8 to +2.8 mg/H -2.8 to +2.8 mg/H -2.8 to +2.8 mg/H

mg/R mg/R mg/R mg/R

-1.06 -1.69 -0.4 2.99

-1.08 -1.65 -0.42 2.99

-1.08 -1.62 -0.47 2.99

-1.08 -1.58 -0.52 2.99

-1.08 -1.53 -0.59 2.99

I also logged GROUP 11

And at idle Cylinders 1-3 read 0

But cylinder 4 reads 47

Does this mean I have an injector fault? Or is my tuning box playing havoc with them?

I'm also trying to work out why my Boost gauge is reading 22 psi when booting the car in 3rd or 4th gear - not spiking but holding at this value.

I logged GROUP 11 which I think its the right one

Does this mean I have an injector fault? Or is my tuning box playing havoc with them?

You've got it in one. All it is, is that the tuning box tells the PD injector that it needs more fuel than the injector can handle so up comes the fault code.

Remember a tuning box will never be as good as a proper remap as all it does is interrupt the information going between the injectors and the ECU and then increase the value so that more fuel is pumped into the cylinder.

the thing is that fault code could have been there for a while and be because you booted it in 2nd gear once a few weeks ago. clear it, drive notmally and see if it comes up again. There is nothing wrong with your pd injectors, it's just that the tuning box made the ecu ask for more fuel than it could reasonably handle.

I would not worry, but if you are, diconnect the tuning box for a week and see if it comes up again.

You were correct.

I just disconnected the box and checked the figures again.

This time at idle they read as follows:

Cyl 1 Cyl 2 Cyl 3 Cyl 4

mg/R mg/R mg/R mg/R

0 -0.19 0.05 0.14

No idea why the box was overfuelling injector 4 so much?
