i done the arch mod and also took out both my foglightes 2day and took it a blast i dont know wether i was wishing or if the vrs felt a wee bit nippier ! i think it was more crisper accel if anything. any1 else feel a difference ?

Did this the other day at the same time as pikeying the airbox. Does feel a bit more free reving. To be honest, now the weather is cooler, I doubt you'll notice any difference unless you've been sat in traffic for ages or something like that.

How did you do your wheel arch? Fit a grill or drill lots of small holes?

im thinking this one is more placebo, i thought it would cause more drag.

The car will go slightly better as the weather is getting colder, mine feels better when it's colder outside.

i put a ally grill on from bnq. and i used stikaflex and some fiberglass rivits. its solid and then i painted it black for a wee bit of discreetness. il post pic 2moro once iv took a pic in daylight. yeh i think its better in cold also il see how this goes anyway.

I imagine the effect will be minimal to be honest for an intercooler to work best you will need smooth airflow as with a FMIC, but by opening into the wheelarch i imagine airflow will be interupted by the messy air created by the spinning wheel.

You will have more chance of stealing the Queens polo mints than getting one of those, and you would ned a custom map to get the most out of it.

If your going to go for a FMIC you need look at either the Allard ones or the Forge ones (Which again will need a CR), these are what most fit.

In terms of the SMIC the mod does help but it's not a silver bullet. You will notice that on motorway runs you will be down on power when you leave the motorway and it helps massively with this. If you really want to see how much it could effect things, find a car with it done and feel the difference with the air con of and on. When it's on the hot air that is chucked out of the vent is scary hot and there is lots of it. Normally all that would be floating round your IC, not too much difference this time of year but in the heat it makes a noticable difference to heat soak and reduces power loss.

So did you do the holesin wheel arch liner or B&Q grill or was it the Audi TT arch liner method chosen. I am looking to do the TT liner method, just wanted to know what you had done.

I did not remove the fog lights but I have cut the surrounding grill area larger, this has given me twice as much air space as before... and no loss in strength in the foglight surround.

I left the fog light in and extended the area either side of the light housing. so basically the black area to either side of the silver surround in this picture... will post a picture very soon to show the difference. visually none

i think i understand what you've extended.

wouldn't that leave the smic more vuneralble to stones etc?
