Lane Change Indicators

Featured Replies

Well, this is one thing we missed from our last car to this, so was pleased to learn that there was a retrofit kit available for the Golf MKiv, so a quick trip to the VW garage, and part bought:

Part Number: P W000 998 229 A priced at £29.79 plus VAT.

Part compromises a plug adaptor that fits between the hazard warning switch, and a new relay.

Wiring is quite easy - fitted it in my lunch hour

Just a case of taking off the air vent to give you access to the rear of the switch and wiring, and following the instructions for the new wiring, then securing the new relay behind the switch, and putting everything back together.

Now when you flick the indicator, you get 4 flashes before it switches off again, everything else is as normal

Nice Find.

One of only 3 things I miss from my previous Vectras (don't sneer they were company cars  )

Was one of the things the tool for removing the dust caps that sat on the petrol cap :D

Yup, a poxy Vectra is one of the cars in my previous list too ;)

mmmm, I might be tempted - I very rarely ever "lock" my indicators on, so that would be handy.... I assume that should work for all mk1 Octys?

As far as I know, as ours is a late MK1, so will presume they are all the same wiring......

Nice I drove my mums elegance the one time and liked this feature....so would be handy to get that in mine.

:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: for finding that!

Are the instructions pretty straight forward? Simply plug and play?

Really miss these when I get back into my Octy after driving the Mrs Fabia.

Interesting.... my Elegance (2001) does not have this. Are the indicator stalks any difference? It is just a case of pushing the stalk just enough to engage the indicator which then triggers the 4 flashes?

Prob shoulda mentioned was mk2

yup, just either give it a quick puch up or down, and bob your's uncle

Although coming home tonight I think they only flash 3 times ;)

Is the wiring specific to just the octavia or could this be wired into any car with a bit of electrical knowledge?

Thanks

Is 3 times on the mothers car:thumbup:

Good work fella!

SWMBOs 04 Fabia has this as stsandard and I fitted the same kit as you to my Bora a few years back. Looks like I will need another one when I pick the Octy up.

It is pretty much plug and play - just got to take some pins out of the original plug, and transfer to a new plug, and that's about it really.

As for using in another car, think it is pretty specific to the VW group, going by the relay supplied, but couldn't be sure though, as not a proper sparky....

posted the following in august 2007 ,may help with connecting this up to an octy

OCTAVIA Convenience Indicators

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just spent 45 minutes fitting "convenience" Indicators to my 52 Octy vrs, flick the wiper in one direction and you get 3/4 flashes on the relevant indicator lights and no cancelling there is a kit available from VW dealers to retrofit this to golf 4 and passat B5 models and involves moving some wires on the hazard warning switch and adding a short loom and relay to the car .

the instructions for the passat were correct for my car except one wire colour being wrong

(passat black/green , octy black/white) but the connector position 6 were the same

What I did is just used the actual plug socket numbers and ignored the colour of the wire, with being for the VW group and not the Skoda, and then becomes less complicated looking for wires that don't exist, but well spotted

The one I had was for a golf and passat and had two different sets of instructions so i just made sure I used the right instructions and this was the only difference to the passat .

The guy in the following link is selling this kit (cheaper at the dealers)and includes a pdf of the instructions to download so you can see how difficult it is before buying

VW Golf Bora Passat - One Touch Comfort Indicators Kit on eBay, also, Volkswagen, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 11-Mar-09 19:00:00 GMT) a pdf of tclhe instructions to download
