Replacement wheel center badge covers

Featured Replies

Got these delivered today as a result of some off-forum dealing with Cliff, who originally poked around with the idea of creating some alternative Skoda badges. These aren't endorsed by Skoda and can not be offered publically but I'm sure if you contacted Cliff (PastyBoy) he might be able to sort you something out.

To change them over, I did the following:

1) Soaked existing wheel centers completely in very very hot water for about 3 minutes

2) Took kitchen knife and prised off existing metal-effect cover (took a fair bit of doing, but comes of eventually)

3) Cleaned off all remaining adhesive.

4) Applied a line of superglue around the very edge of the face of the plastic wheel center

5) Stuck on the self-adhesive new wheel badge cover and left to dry...

Here's a few pictures of them...

3 changed, 1 remaining:

Fitted to my buggered alloy wheel because I can't be bothered to take the four wheels off my car at the moment:

Pictures of them fitted to the car to follow later. I'm very pleased with the final quality of these items. :)

Nice looking. Where did u get the badges from?

Give "PastyBoy" a PM ;)

Top man Ed

glad my handiwork has gone to good use and is to satisfactory quality :D

Just done a "try to pull the badge off" test on one of them - looks like the superglue was a good idea (me, good idea? Never!) for once - not budging an inch, and it looks like the seal is watertight too :)

yeah i think the standard adhesive is best described as ok, additon of something else is wise ;)

they do look wicked though!

Here are some of them fitted to the car. I'm even more pleased with the results now that I've found out how they look fitted. The most annoying part of this whole job was having to remove the wheels to get them on!

Top marks to Cliff for sorting all of this out, and I may even place another order for 4 more to cover the 4 spare wheel caps that I have - in case any go missing or get damaged. I heard there's a discount for repeat orders.. :D;)

Thanks Ed - always good to have someone let you know they are happy.

And why wouldn't you - be they look brilliant! :D

I was actually in traffic behind an M reg Favrit yesterday and the other half went

"oh look her boot badge looks like those ones you did!"

I heard there's a discount for repeat orders.. :D;)

This is liable and you can expect a call from my lawyer on monday morning :P

Do you do these big enough to go on the grille and boot?

I thought I got a set off e-bay and green ones turned up.

*Edit*

forget I spoke. I should have read the thread, I'm an idiot.

They're nice!

And still as-new despite four or five car washes and a good brake bedding in session (ergo they stick up to decent heat and water!)

But I will still be removing them for track events, just in case they melt :D

Am I only one who prefers the green as it goes with the VRS badges and calipers?

I kind of agree but my old green ones were pretty corroded and looked terrible. I'd rather have new looking grey ones than corroded green ones, and I don't think the Skoda Originals are available to buy new anymore :).

i can get them made in green in necessary ;)

glad they're still all attached and looking good Ed

speak Wednesday and see you Friday!!

hi pastyboy, ive just joined the forum and noticed this thread about the badges you make. can you tell me if you can make them with the vrs letters instead of the skoda symbol?

ive seen a couple of pictures of the the octavia vrs with round vrs badges fitted to the wheel centres and the front and rear badge, infact ive seen one on the steering wheel as well.

i quite liked the effect and was just wondering weither this was something you could do & if so at what cost?

this is a link to a badge ive seen :- Skoda Octavia I Tour 96-09 - front grille emblem cover VRS : Skoda Tuning = superskoda.com

thats the sort of thing im after or something similar :)

thanks

nick

Hi Nick

i can get them made up with anything you like on - skoda symbol, VRS symbol, decepticon symbol :D, picture of your face  anything you fancy!!

However everything has a cost and for a bespoke print like I doubt i'd be able to compete with the prices offered on eBay for similar items which have probably been made in their thousands.

I shall ask the question to my printer and come back to you

Pity about the lump in the middle, otherwise very snappy and chic.

Think I would get a set of originals personally, from 'Skoda' but that sums me up, a self confessed square. LOL

The lumps in the middle have gone now that the centres have warmed up with the wheel, will take more photos if I remember!
