mk2 k04 20vt project

Featured Replies

thought i would put this out into the main forum, here is my mk2 which i bought on a whim off ebay

how i got her

P1060232.jpg

but i couldn't stand the wheels so i got some rh classics a couple of days later and that did the trick for now

P1060247.jpg

P1060246.jpg

then came all the sevice items new cam belt, disks, pads timing sorting and filters in preparation for my ring trip

P1060536.jpg

P1060537.jpg

P1060371.jpg

P1060323.jpg

P1060326.jpg

P1060294.jpg

which she completed without breaking a sweat, but i have started to notice a bottom end knock on her,i looked into re building the 16v kr lump but it was going to be quite expensive so i looked into other things, then out of the blue an audi s3 engined golf sort of dropped into my lap for peanuts, exactly what i needed a rear ended mk4 golf,so as soon as i get to mansfield to pick it up the real meat of the project will start,a 280bhp mk2 track car,and while the engine is out it would be rude not to smooth the bay to match the rest of the car wouldn't it?:D

Subscribed :)

This should be good..

I'm in too :)

Good luck with it Gary

Steve

Will keep checking the updates:thumbup:

The new wheels make it look great!!!

That colour really suits a mk2 imo. I was admiring a similar one at Awesome yesterday.

right, got the doner car in the garage and made a few small steps stripping it,going very slow at the moment as i don't want to damage any of the wiring, needless to say it was a right pain to get the dash out!!!

P1060567.jpg

turns out the engine is a 225bhp apx lump!!!!!! result:D

right donor car has now been stripped completly,no interior,no engine and we even cut some of it up,but more on that later.

right early this morning i had a couple of visitors, enter john on deconstruction and Luke on wiring with me in my normal supervisory role how could we fail?

it all started innocently enough with us all working in complete harmony removing the jewel in the crown of my mk 4......the engine

P1060599.jpg

P1060604.jpg

john ripping driveshafts off

P1060600.jpg

and finally out,but not before mark, aka fatboyslim aka mr awesome sarah dropped by to lend a hand and a custom made dolly so we could move the car round after all the brakes and hubs came off,top lad

P1060605.jpg

and here are a few random shots of varius work going on

the octavia toolbox

P1060598.jpg

luke crying about wiring and being hungry......again

P1060601.jpg

P1060608.jpg

a bit of a brisky meet today with not 1 but 2 red octys

P1060609.jpg

P1060610.jpg

the dreaded wiring(well done luke:D)

P1060613.jpg

dubius health and safety proceedure!!!

P1060604.jpg

P1060606.jpg

cutting time

P1060615.jpg

P1060614.jpg

what a mk4 coupe might look like(with a bit of imagination)

P1060616.jpg

and one quick cut later and hey presto.....a mk4 pickup:rofl:

Saw a 150PD Tdi put into a MK2 in Ireland.

You have to work the wiring loom with the dash clocks, to do it you will have to remove the immobilizor

Have a link for you if you want it

Best of luck,

It's a beauty of a MK2
