They look lovely mate, i might swop my metal plates for dubmeister ones. I just found it was such a hassle posting all your details which i know you have to do its the law, and i live miles away from my local supplier :(

Torque, you dont need to do that mate. I scanned in my details and emailed them over. I didn't want to use Craig's plates for that reason

Sweet. Probably get a set for Furby and for the Rallye.

Just to let you know the normal cost is £36.90 but I guess they discount postage on more plates. Also they are closed next week for car shows

And these are 100% legal? They look really good.

What's their e-mail address? I'm seriously tempted. What do they need a scan of your logbook and your photo licence?

They say they are legal on the site, Dubmeister - Where performance meets style!

Also the plate is stamped with the dealer stamp, the lettering is all the correct size so that should be fine

I sent my log book and photo with the green part and that was fine.

The lady I have been dealing with is Tash and she has been very helpful

the nice police officer who stopped me and issued me with a vehicle defect form says they're illegal !!!!

Something to keep in mind, had i not had the originals in the boot and said that i was on my home to change them, there was arguably sufficient grounds for siezing my vehicle there and then...and that would of been a proper testicle ache !!!!

So how did you go about it? Order the plates online and just give them you E-mail address and say in the notes that scans of all the documents will be attached in an E-mail. Or did you phone the order through.

Oh right, weird :(

Did he say why they are illegal?

order online and in the notes part I said that I would email the documents. Quite interested to find out from x4cs why the police dont like them. I have kept the receipt saying they are legal in the car just incase I have any issues. I hope they are ok having spent some money on them. Can't see the problem really, size is fine, lettering is correct and it has a dealer stamp :ne_nau:

Number plates Fitting

interesting reading, but still not completely clear. Hmmm will be annoyed as the only reason I went for these was because they said legal. Wish I knew a copper now, lol

I don't see how these are illegal?

"Legal plates will be UK font, correct spacing and laser marked with legal details to BSAU145d."

Oh right, weird :(

Did he say why they are illegal?

Apparently the ANPR (automatic numbering plate recognition) cameras, both static and mobile ones fitted to police cars, cannot read them, nor can some speed and traffic light cameras.

I saw the picture the police car one took of my plates and it was all gobbldy goo !!!!

So, im inclined to think that he was right and that they are illegal.

personally, i like the style of plates, but ive been told 'next time' im getting my vehicle siezed !!!! so i dont have them on my motor any more !!!

bum, thats not good. How long ago did you get your plates from Dubmeister?

I thought these type of pressed plates were used in the rest of Europe and they use ANPR and speed cameras don't they?

Sounds like you got a **** cop.

There's no reason why these plates are not legal.

hey man, yer i know, not got a scanner :( and to all the people who are debating these are 100% british road legal, they have all the requirements that meet the legal bumfff, ive been told if you do have an uneducated pig i mean policemen. bring a copy of the receipt of the plates and print off dubmeisters legal doc to prove to them that they are legit! :D

That darned Captain O'Malley!

That darned Captain O'Malley!

id presume they are not legal because they are not printed/pressed onto a reflective backing, which is a requirement

Torque, shame you are so far away otherwise I could have scanned it for you. Are you not near a stockist?

It really is about time our Police had something worthwhile to do FFS.

Pressed plates are common in Europe and THEIR cameras have no problem reading them, I do believe the German font is specifically designed to be easier to be read by ANPR cameras. And as for siezing the vehicle, well......... if siezing a car for displaying these plates is considered good form then there are hundreds od thousands of cars in the bloody queue in front of it. I see cars driving about with varoius bits hanging off and in a general state of disrepair and no one cares a toss.

The Dubmeister web site doesn't say if they are reflective. This is the only reason why I can see them not being legal. Yet according to the Dubmeister site these plates are"BSA145d complient".

I also gather that any number plate supplier must be registerd by the DVLA, so I'd have thought that Dubmeister ran their plates by the DVLA before they started selling them.

Also, if the officer didn't state WHY they were illegal, then I'd have thought it was because he didn't bloody well know!!!!

Any police officer worth his salt will be helpful, as long as they get treated with the respect they deserve,

(difficult I know with a very small amount of them) and will tell you exactly why it is you've broken the law.

If these conform to the British Standard yet they can't be read by ANPR cameras then that's hardly your fault is it. More the fault of the equipment I'd say. My plates do conform to the British Standard yet can't be read through the bottom of a beer glass. Doesn't make them illegal does it :drunk:

Another edit - these plates ARE reflective.
