Octavia Long delivery times

Featured Replies

Ordered a 1.9tdi elegance estate with sunset glass 2 weeks ago. Phoned dealer for update on delivery date. He has been quoted February!! He has been at VAG who have brought the date back a bit, but his story is software problem at factory, and problems with the new bolero radio units. Sounded a bit sus, anyone got any inside info.

  • Although dealers may indeed give differing stories as to build dates and arrival at dealer there is a mitigating reason for this. Two cars may be built on the same day and trained upto Emden together

It wouldn't surprise me if there were delays.

People are starting to realise that Skoda is a VW and you're getting VW quality for substantially less than the cost of a VW either Golf, Passat or Polo.

Personally I'd rather have the delay and know that any quality issues have been sorted out & I'm going to get a great car.

I wonder if it depends on dealer or spec ordered so just random delays. I'm aware the 1.4TSI has delays till Feb/March.

I ordered my car 2 weeks ago and had a build week with a day or 2, which is Week 44. Maybe there has been a rush of orders since then.

aye...I ordered mine about a week before yours I'm sure and my build date is next week, so maybe they did get a huge rush

or are the vRS models made elsewhere?

Maybe they are not sure, but even a weeks ordering apart seems to have led to a 7 week build date gap, may also depends on options I think.

My dealer said if they are building a car with sililar spec earlier they will make that one yours and then add the extra bits on, if none come up they then just get built from the ground up.

Perhaps your options were already nearly on a car in the build queue.

I've not heard anything yet, even though I ordered the car a week ago.

I do know that the salesman is away this week, so will probably find out in the next couple of days, I'm not really that worried as I don't need the car until early December anyway, the only reason I ordered it when I did was to ensure that it qualified for the VAT-free & 0% finance deals, which it should do with ease.

I ordered my new car - Octavia Elegance Hatch 1.6D with a load of extras on 20th August. I was told a build date of week 40, with an estimated delivery at the end of October. Maybe the dealer was being a bit optimistic. He did say that it would be a good idea to avoid a delivery in the first two weeks of November due to some change in registration software at VW. You never know with these people. Best to just nod in agreement to whatever they say, then sit back and wait.

Most factory orders are 12-16 weeks normally.

I've been quoted 12 weeks, but like I said I'm not worried if it's slightly longer, it just means another payment on the existing car goes out first, which means a slightly less settlement figure.

The vRS and the Scout are made in a separate factory to all the other models as far as I remember. That would explain why all the other models were facelifted before the vRS and Scout. Mind you, when I bought mine I was told if I wanted xenons I would have to wait 16 weeks, so I got a car that was 2 days old sitting outside the factory with all the spec I wanted but without xenons. I couldn't wait 16 weeks, I was like a child at christmas.

Just to let most of you who ordered a VRS in the last 2 weeks.I had mine ordered 2 weeks ago but had my dealer on the phone yesterday saying its going to be a struggle to get it here before 31st december. He is trying to find out whether Skoda will honour the vat free/low finance deal if the car isnt registered in time.He will have an update in approx 2 weeks as Skoda will TRY and build cars that are already sold first before building cars to sit in showrooms:rolleyes:

sems strange..I have my build week 37 and mines only been ordered about 4 weeks

so I cannot believe it will take 12 weeks after that to get it into this country

plus when it comes to the price...I took the 0% and have singed the paperwork and finance deal..DD is set up and waiting for the the car

cant see how they can force me to pay anything extra now...its signed and a done deal

Germany's "car scrappage" scheme has just expired, so this may speed up delivery times and the availability of certain engines to the UK e.g. 1.4TSI?

This is the thing that worries me.I have paid the 500 deposit on my car but i aint really got anything in writing saying what i ordered and what options i requested.Should we have got something in writing or what? What happened to you guys when you placed your order?

I made the intial enquiry and listed the spec I wanted..they gave me a price which we eventually agreed upon..waited about a week after first contact so they must have been waiting on bank to agree finance then dealer gave me a ring and asked me to come back in and sign the paperwork

I paid the deposit and got a printed spec/order so we agreed on what was being built

also got a detailed sheet with the breakdown of costs and options, the part ex on my car and the amount to pay, and then a breakdown of my finance agreement to sign..so about 3 signatures and a wad of paper

a couple of days later the dealer rang me to let me know the build week

Paid the same deposit but had the dealer's standard 'New Vehicle Order Form' showing all the details including prices & accessories, both factory & dealer fit items, together with the approx. delivery date - 12 weeks in my case. This is normal practice with any dealership, your's appears to be lacking to say the least.

My brothers boss went to order an Octavia 1.9 tdi SE with some extras and was quoted 12 weeks. Then he thought the price of the SE with extras was near the Elegance price, so he has ordered that and has been told that it should be under the 12 weeks.

Yep, it is true, there is a shortage of Bolero radios, so dealers have been warned that orders for Octavia SE, Elegance and other models with the Bolero radio may suffer delays. Some orders have slipped in to next year although Skoda hope they will come forward once the issue has been sorted.

Order the Columbus unit or an S spec and you'll be OK!!!

Been told the VAT free thing is a sort of cash back where you claim it back, if after 31st Dec you can't claim it! Well, that's what I've been told.

that may be the case for dealers but not for customers..like I said I signed the order and the finance deal agreeing what I will be paying..thats the end of it as far as I am concerned

they wont get another penny out of me that hasnt been agreed. (just checked the small print on my order and it says I can cancel in writing within 7 days of receiving a price increase, so they would lose a sale, I can always find another car if it came to it, so leth hope it itsnt a big problem for them as it would be a real headache for dealers)

its actually listed in the costs column as a dealer discount rather than not including VAT on the final cost

I'm in the same boat so lets hope its ok, otherwise there's gonna be lots of cancelled orders.

(a) My car has finally arrived! I ordered in mid-March!

I collect it next week! 1.4TSI DSG Estate.

(B) Dealer offered me a choice of the offer which was in place when I ordered (free servicing for 3 years) or the current offer (VAT free). This is apparently Skoda's policy in such a situation, to honour either option.

The second point may be relevant to several other posters by the look of things.

Great news after all this time - I shall no longer feel like Billy Nomates!

We Octy 1.4TSi DSG owners are a rare breed and at least yours will be new, unlike my now ancient 3 month old jobby. Still, its on a personal plate so who would know it's not a 59 reg. - unless you check out the spare wheel !

Hope you get a nice day for collection but one thing for certain, come rain or shine, you will love the car.

Did you resolve your spare wheel?

I ordered my vRS about a week ago. I was told that if it does get delivered after 31st December, then Skoda UK would honour my agreed price (and finance deal), but I would have to pay the expected 2.5% rise in VAT (as it rises from 15-17.5% on January 1st). As mentioned above, the VAT-free deal is actually a cash-back deal with the dealers where Skoda UK pay most of it and the dealer pays the rest (hence little or no negotiation on price from the dealers).

Hope that's helpful.

I'm still waiting for more information from Marlborough, had a call from a very friendly person last week and will hopefully get some paperwork through soon when the postal strike stops...

I got an email today from my dealer saying that I couldn't change was order as it was with the factory now and can't be altered, I have emailed him back to check I'm still on week 44 as so many people have reported delays in this thread. I await a response.
