what does the E get instead of front fogs?

Featured Replies

According to the brochure, over and above 'E' trim the 'S' gets front fogs. So what happens on the 'E' - are there blanking panels or additional driving lights or what?

(It seems I may be in a minority here in looking at a 1.2, 2WD in basic trim.)

I am guessing a different design bumper that does not include the lights.

Thats an interesting question, as for me, the fogs are one of the main appealing design aspects of the car! I cant inagine it with blanking plates there.

Are the flog lights not part of the main headlight (inner light position)assy? :hat:

My mk1 A Class Merc had this.

Because of higher position, they got less dirty and easier to clean.

Beginning to make sense!

What looks like a separate round light from the outside is in fact part of the same fitting as the main headlight. The part marked 'A' (assuming we are looking at the back of a drivers-side headlamp in the UK) contains both fog and driving light. With the 'E' spec the whole cluster is still there but the round bit doesn't contain a fog lamp.

Thats what I assumed- simply no bulb/wiring. Although, styling wise, I think I would have preferred them in the conventional position. But they do grow on you......

I think you would be better off trying to squeeze a bit more out of the dealer and step up to the S trim.

In comparative terms not much more expensive and possible hold it's value better come trade-in.

The S certainly seems more attractive as a 'base' model, though in reality the price difference comes down to a set of alloys.

At some level though I object to the assumption that a cheapest option is on the price list but of course no one is actually going to buy it are they? It makes it look like they have decided what basic trim people would actually like and then had a look what they can take away to give a slightly lower price point. That's marketing I guess, but one of the (perceived) appeals of the Skoda brand is that the cars (and dealers) are straightforward.

For a truly basic model I'd be quite happy with wind-up windows and the like, but presumably that would actually complicate the build process.

It's no different to the assumption that you will pay extra for metallic, though in this case it looks like there may well be a fair few white snow monsters around and if anyone had actually seen a pacific blue there may be some of those as well!

On the E and S models do you get the same silver rear diffuser, side skirts and front bumpers?

I'm quite warming to a Black Yeti now. Will hide the lack of non colour coded door mirrors and handles nicely.

I just hope you get the silver diffuser and bumper on the 'S' model.

Can anyone confirm?

Black looks good. its obviously down to marketing that a "metallic" Black is offered VW used to offer Golfs in a solid black. That would have saved £400 without looking a great deal different. Offering the 170bhp on lesser models than the Elegance would also have been helpful pricewise.:rotz:

Black will keep you fit too. You will be constantly cleaning it.

Not to mention getting into an oven during the summer.
