Welcome to Briskoda and thanks for the update, our first 2WD diesel to add to aerofurbs SMOC.

Regard paint protection, the Detailers on the forum would say don't do it; they state that dealers bodywork preparation often results in 'swirls' on the paint finish and don't always last.

If however your like me and not the best at polishing anyway, then maybe yes it's a good idea. Plus some of these treatments come with certificates of application which can prove handy come resale time.

Looking at the Autoglym Lifeshine myself which includes both interior & exterior 'protection' particularly as like yourself I have opted for Corrida Red.

Thanks for your come back :thumbup:.Permashine includes interior and alloy wheel protection so perhaps might be a good idea.The also say they coat the windows to make the water bead off .not sure about that as when i tried to do it myself on exsisting car the screen smeered when it was only very light rain ,not good .Any thoughts? :)

Apparently the Lifeshine includes this as well so both packages sound very similar.

Have seen these types of window coatings before and they appear OK but unsure how long they stay effective.

Another reason I suppose for letting the dealer sort it out, if unhappy you can take it back.

I don't think any of these treatments are worth more than a tenth the cost. If there was anything in it the manufacturers would be using it as a selling point - in the scale they do things the cost on the car would be tiny to them, or at least put it on the factory options. Its just a means for the dealers to try and add a bit of margin onto the sale as its 90% pure profit and keeps the cleaning lad busy for a couple of hours. Go mad in Halfords with £50 and you will get something as good.

To go off at another tangent here. A problem I had with my X-Trail was that the sump was severely corroded by cow poo sprayed up from the road where the cows were walked for milking. This corrosive mixture nearly caused the engine to lose all the oil!!

The result was a new sump (£!!!!!!????? - OW) but they gave it a coat of WaxOil to protect it.

I intend to request that all vulnerable parts underneath be coated with an underseal of some kind to prevent this happening again. The body work did not suffer as it was easy to jet wash the c**p off.

My choice of 2.0 TDI CR 140 hp 4x4 in SE trim is mainly decided by the roads where we live. To get to a main road of any sort we travel 5 miles on roads that are 9ft. wide with ditches either side and few passing places (plus cow and other detritis). The roads are gritted once in the winter and, as we are not on a bus route. that's our lot! The X-Trail proved to be a safe and reliable vehicle in these conditions so, I hope, the Yeti (complete with off road button) will prove an ideal replacement.

If you have ordered did you spec rough road pack? Might help with the cow dung problem; includes a steel tray protecting the entire area under the engine bay.

Ordered this on mine after seeing it on the CZ demonstrator that came over. Much better than the standard plastic stuff.

PS your choice of colour?

I have driven my Toyota RAV 4 in fields and on roads with cow dung for 9 years and have never encountered this problem. Only damage ever done was when a cow "leant" against one of the body panels and dented it. On the same occasion, they licked the whole car while I was away but there was no lasting damage to paintwork!

No The rough road kit would protect but is, in itself, susceptable to corrosion (unless in Stainless) so would need protection from the acidic effect of the cow poo! Plastic, in this case, is a better option. I lost an exhaust shield on the X-Trail from corrosion.

Colour is Cappucino ??? (Wife liked it - 'nuf said) I am a BRG man (TVR Tuscan 3.0 - assembled by self in the Purchase Tax days)

By the way. What is the Yeti Experience? and where is it available?

By the way. What is the Yeti Experience? and where is it available?

The UK as far as I am aware is the only country to use the designations E, S, SE & Elegance for the Yeti.

In the European market the use the following (note: a number of Countries only have three trim levels):

E = Yeti (in Germany anyway)

S = Active

SE = Ambition

Elegance = Experience

Equipment and options can vary quite markedly for each trim level depending on the individual Countries importers specification requirements.

For example most countries specify 16" rims on all but the top spec, some like the UK have leather as standard again on the top trim other Countries it's 'Dune' fabric.

Anyway thanks for the info, I take you have ordered then? do you have a build week or delivery time as yet.

As yet no date. It was ordered on 7/10 and, hopefully, we will get it before the Christmas shut down BUT no promises. Soooo I live in hope but not expectation.

I "discovered" the Yeti rather late. My original dealer kicked Nissan into touch following poor support and expensive demands for up rating the dealership. The dealer now supplies Dihatsu. I looked at the Terios but was not too impressed so did a search for a different make.

Around this area the dealerships are rather thin on the ground so the choice is limited. I put support high on my list of priorities and Skoda became an option when I found a dealer within a half hour drive.

My local paintshop says that these are a waste of money - the paint is covered with lacquer and just needs polish.

By the way I got my yeti last week!!!!

Hi.

Yes I am enjoying it immensely - one foible, one of my spotlights was out today, so I took out the bulb (Philips H7) it checked out OK. I put it back and it is now working ??????

As for paint protection you could try superguard it is freely availiable on e*ay usually at knock down prices, one here ( Item number: 280393108636 )

put it on yourself and save a fortune - or you could ask your local car valeters to put it on for you.

Regards

Thanks Mike for the new images; looks great. Strange about the bulb probably just one of those things as you say.

Hoping to here soon from the Dealer that mine has at last made it to our shores, as it was supposedly built last week. Feel sorry for some of the Octavia forum guys, they appear to have been waiting quite some time for their orders in comparison.

I see you have a short driveway. I started looking at Yeti for this very reason. As my driveway is only about 4.8 m long.

Just one Q, on one of the pictures the door mirrors are a different colour? i've not seen that before on any other Yeti. Is that standard?

It's a dealer fit accessory, you will find it in the brochure described as:

Decorative trims for wing mirrors 5L0071719

If you look on Skoda's main site there is the international accessories catalogue which has a few more items that are not listed in the UK brouchure (whether we can get them all over here is another question):

Hope that helps.
