Update on the rear removable strut brace for Faby vRS

Featured Replies

In Short.....It's Done!

To recap i noticed that the Fuby Vrs doesn't have a rear brace set up like the Octy. So having a loan of a Furby i designed one!...........Its taken quite a bit of time but we are there folks!

What i have sussed is that half way up the rear seat surport frame is a nice open bit of box section that will make a ideal bolt to polsition. In the Picture you can see roughy where this is to be found.

And in the next shot you can see the finished Brace ready at last for testing! Just hope JJ is still around.

Cheers

Mike

Looks well built but I am trying to work out how it fastens onto the rear suspension turrets

id be willing to be a guinea of the pig :D

by the looks of it, it doesnt but fixes to some box section so i doubt it woyld have much benefit over just looking good really as its not really bracing much if its not between the turrets no ?

The brace fits between the rear turrets, preventing the suspension mounting points try to get closer together (anyone who ever had a performance Ford Escort knows all about turrets ;) )

I'm just strugggling to work out how the brace attaches to the shell from looking at the "prototype".

thats what im saying i know its got to brace the turrets i was just saying also i dont see how it braces them. maybe i wrote it in an **** about face way sorry :(

Yeah Mike still around. Just been out ****ing the underneath of my car. Dont ask.

So when do I get to play :D

  • 2 weeks later...

Well the prototype is now fitted. Not had a chance to test it but first impression is that the rear of the car is more solid/stable.

Can't belive just how stright foreward it was, think if there a production run i make a few small changes. Delighted on just how stiff it is when tightened. Think you need to keep a weather on that John just in case they back off.

Now, the Seat Leon Brace.......:))

So Mike, when's the production run and where do I sign? ;):D

Well John tells me that he might be doing a track day later this month. That being the case perhaps a few of you can inspect said item and see what you think.

In the mean time John's going to "Test drive" and bring it back in a week or so that i might just check to see if anything has backed off.

If enough people are impressed than i will cost a production run.

Cheers

Mike
