Sidewinds?

Featured Replies

if it ain't windy enough today then it never will be......

Being high and "boxy", how does the snow monster/yeti handle in crosswinds etc?

I had a sudden flashback of a memorable journey in a Mk1 Freelander as it had the habit of veering/wallowing along the road in high winds....bloody scarey.

better way of framing question

My old Touran had "active yaw control" - this applied a tiny bit of steering input to counteract sidewinds.

Tried it across a motorway viaduct in Brittany that had a windsock at each end - sidewind was approx 40mph I reckon - relaxed my grip on the wheel - it stayed true all the way across.

Not sure the yeti has this or not, or perhaps only on ESP equipped variants (another reason why I went for Elegance).

Weather wasn't great this morning strong winds and heavy driving rain. Lucky I had a Snow-monster.

Wind buffet appeared little different to our Corsa if anything the heaver Yeti felt more stable. Did notice that on occasion I needed a bit more power to hustle her along plus fuel consumption was up a little bit. Only other thing of note was increased wing noise around the top of the 'A' pillar; not too intrusive.

Note: travelling along the A166 across the Yorkshire Wolds so pretty exposed.

Can see why wagon drivers appear to be oblivious to heavy spray on duel carriageways, your driving above it, instead of getting covered like in a conventional car. Had the outside lane all to myself as the conventional crowd crawled along in the murk on the inside, even past an Octy Scout that seemed to be having the same trouble. reckon the monsters buff front and extra couple of inches in seat height make all the difference.
