Yeti in the SNOW

Featured Replies

You lucky folks who have bought yourselves Yeti 4WD have got a good chance of trying out the clever Haldex 4x4 system over the next week days...

Free cup of coffee, and perhaps a biscuit if I don't finish them off to the person who can supply the best Yeti in a snowy(ish) enviroment photograph.

Hi James,

although I live on the East coast don't think we are in for Snow although now I have said it you never know.

From experience in my previous Golf 4motion the traction system is good but summer tyres negate the benefit that the system provides but at least with the Golf I could put snow chains on the front without having to change wheels and tyres.

As mentioned in another thread I think these daft 17" sports wheels will make things worse, although will have to wait and see. Still seriously considering winter tyres on 16" rim's but sadly you cannot order Moon alloys over here  so I might go for steel rims.

So yes I would also be interested if anybody has run the 17" wheels with sports saloon tyres in the snow with the Haldex Gen IV system.

I have had a look on You Tube but nothing in English for Snow and Yeti.

The Plumber, you may as well buy steel unless you have an aversion because they will be cheaper, will not be on for very long and it wont matter too much about corrosion. In the main steel wheels will be more resistant to any knocks and scrapes that winter driving sometimes brings. They will also be less desirable to potential thieves.

Shoot. we missed it. the rest od´f the country got about 10 inches, but just wet and dark here...

Maybe tomorrow???

16" 216/60 with Goodyaer Eagkle Ultragrip tyres.

let it snow, let it snow, let it snow......

I have to say the biggest disappointment of having a 4x4 for me, is the fact that even when you can keep going, you get stuck behind all the peeps who can’t emoticon-0101-sadsmile.gif

That is unless you go out at night........ emoticon-0140-rofl.gifemoticon-0148-yes.gifemoticon-0140-rofl.gifemoticon-0148-yes.gifemoticon-0140-rofl.gifemoticon-0148-yes.gifemoticon-0140-rofl.gifemoticon-0148-yes.gif

ps we still haven't had any snow in Manchester :(

Perhaps I'll take two photos - one in colour and the other in black and white and then play 'spot the difference...' ;)

You might need to tie a red flag to the aerial to find her if the forecast is correct.

At least with my 'postal delivery van' I don't have that problem. :D

As promised, a couple of Snow Monster snow pictures - in colour....

Note you can check the ground clearance from the snow level seen in front of the Yeti (exhaust was clear)

Yeti lights are just so funky. I like lights, must have been a moth in a previous life :)

Appropriate number plate TIBET  Very flat underneath! Do you have the off road under tray!

Great picture.

Mines looking a bit more bedraggled after 3.5 hours trying to get to work (why?), drop my offspring off at college and compete in tobogganing down hill backwards trials for the next winter Olympics. :o

Wish I had thought to take some pics of stuck on a hill but a little distracted at the time trying to undo the pickle I had got myself in.

Got home in the dark after another 2.5 hours including three turnaround & find another route incidents due to stuck lorries.

My link

Apologies still using flickr as I like some do not appear to have the option to attach photo's.

No off road tray, standard fit. I didn't realise the snow was that deep till I got out! :o

Are you saying that when you use the 'full editor' to make a post you don't get the option to insert an image (you should get a tool bar with 'bold' on the far left and 'insert media' on the far right, 'insert image' is 5th from right). What used to be the attach image function seems to have gone but Flickr should give you an image URL which you can insert directly into your posts.

like this:

all I did was right click your image on Flickr (from the main page - not the large view as smaller is better in threads like this), select 'view image', copy the address from the address bar, then click 'insert image', paste in your URL and here it is.

Many thanks weaver,

have tried this a couple of times but I may have been going about it in the wrong way if I understand your post correctly. Will try it out next time around.

best wishes,

TP

Edit

you may just notice the wipers are set in the service position which the handbook recommends for this weather.
