Columbus on Ebay...

Featured Replies

its a reputable seller and an auction rather than buy it now, it will go way higher than the current price. The previous auctioned ones have ended up sometimes higher than £500. Several have bought from this same seller in the past without problems.

One to keep an eye on then.

I see it's a 3T0 version and not a 1Z0 - is that likely to have any compatibilty issues ?

I don't know personally - just thought I'd ask the question

I bought my Columbus from this seller last February and have had no problems. The unit was in excellent condition, came with a code card and there was no sign of broken seals.

Would someone remind this 42 year "senile" old fart what the differences are between a 3T0 version & a 1Z0 version?

Where's simbo when you need him ?

If I remember correctly, the 1Z0 was for the Mk 2 Octavia, and the 3T0 came out in the new Superb, and there were some compatibility issues putting a 3T0 into a Mk 2 Octavia.

I stand to be corrected though :|

If the latest FW is used, then a 3T0 unit will work just fine in a pre-fl octy.

doesn't it depend on what gateway you have? (or has the battery drain issue been solved?)

I have an early gateway way below K and a 3TO didn't work properly in my car. MFSW & maxidot didn't function correctly, so I exchanged it for a 1Z0 which works ok.

My Octy is a early 2006 model.

Sigh. People: these units are STOLEN. Over on the mainland (where are the Polish and other Eastern-European car-thieves operate) it's a real plague... Please don't buy these "refurbished" units as they keep the market of stolen goods going. Thanks...

I refuse to believe that all units on EBay are stolen.

I bought mine from someone in Ireland who claims it came from a write-off.

There's no such thing as recieving........

.........but receiving is really serious :giggle:

You led me into that one

I too find it hard to believe that every unit on Ebay is stolen there are still a few genuine people out there so i wouldnt be worried about it and where do you get a genuine code card from because im damn sure most people dont leave theirs in the car to help the thief ....just another sweeping generalisation being posted up !!!!!

I too brought my columbus from this seller, no broken seals and it came with a code card.

Ditto for mine as well.

My mate is now thinking of getting one for his LE

stolen or not, i do wonder where these come from!

some sellers say they are re-furned units. Personally if the factory units was not so god darn expensive in the first place then there might not be such a market for them!

I can't understand how people receive a code card with these units. I was told by a dealer that code cards are no longer used and coding is completely secure between the factory and the unit. The dealers don't even know the codes. Code cards have not been used for a number of years apparently.

I bought one off this seller, abseloutly brilliant, ordered on the tuesday at 11am and was at my door in dublin on thursday morning, had it fitted that afternoon, no problems at all, altho because the units are the newer(3T0) units from the new superb i had to recode it to show up on my maxidot with vagcom, very simple tho :D

So does that not mean that if you get one with a code card it's likely to be even more legitimate than one that doesn't come with a code card.

Either that or these unscrupulous multi-MFD3 stealers have access to the secure Skoda coding system such that they can then manufacture a code card to pass on with it.

That's one hell of a planned organisation.

AFAIU there are no code cards - period. Any new units have their codes generated and stored at the factory pc system.

Even true refurb, there are no code cards. If in doubt, ask continental who make them ;)

So if I bought a true refurb unit how would I find out the code? or why wouldn't I need one?
