Having just aquired a set of 18" Team Dynamic Pro Race 1.2's (Thanks TSP!!!!) I'm just wondering how wide a tyre I could fit, I currently have 4 excellent 225/40 zr18 tyres, just wondering whether 235/40 zr18's would fit?

Has anyone else done this??

Your thought and opinions please people.

How wide are the rims?

if the wheels are 18x8 then 235 tyres will fit, but you will have issues with strut clearance at the front, and may have rubbing at the back depending on wheel offset due to the extra width and slightly larger diameter of the tyres. I have just replaced 235/40 tyres on my octy with 225/40 as I got fed up with the rubbing issues.

10/7 times the rim width in mm. Convert the size from inches to mm by multiplying by 25.4.

I thought that might be the case..... Wheels are 8"x18", so anything upto a 245 section would fit the rim but as you say the issue is the clearance...... I'll stick with 225's then!!

good rims them mate,

225 are good enough and dont look too skinny neither, I have them and no rubbing issues, only rear a tad with a full car of ppl.

I am not one for black rims tho, they show the brakes really nice tho.
