Elegance bits in an SE

Featured Replies

Had a look at the parts list at a dealer today. Two things that look interesting are the underseat storage boxes and the sunglasses holder in the roof, both standard on the Elegance.

The exploded diagram for the underseat box shows it as part of a normal, non-electric, seat. Presumably it should therefore fit on an SE.

The sunglasses holder diagram is a bit more obtuse, for one thing it looks nothing like the real thing. It is a single part and looks like it could be a direct replacement for the blanking plate. In the diagram the blanking plate looks nothing like the real thing either. Sunglasses holder is £17 something.

I am really interested in the underseat box, perfect for those phone charging cables that only get used occasionally and the satnav and its screen suction cup holder. Gets them all out of the glove box.

Anyone have any thoughts?

I have already bought the ashtray that fits in the centre cup holder, perfect for keeping loose change for parking.

Hi Tom,

had the sunglasses holder on the Golf and never bothered with it, although some find it useful and should be a straight forward fit I would think.

With the SE the plastic side trim comes to a dead stop on the corner, then there's a big open space under the seat. So fitting the storage box could neaten things up a bit and something I have considered myself.

Regard fitting the under-seat boxes, there has I believe been articles published on the briskoda forum but for installation on the Octavia II. This process should be very similar for the Monster and with the raised seat height probably easer.

Regards,

TP

Tom, do you have the part number for the ashtray? Exactly what I was thinking about. emoticon-0144-nod.gif

The label on the box says:

5J0 857 961 9B9 ASHTRAY

The invoice says the same and it was £8.64 plus VAT

Looks like it is a standard VW Group part.

Thanks Tom - I think it's exactly what a mate of mine wants for his Scirocco as well. Wonder how much a Scirocco one costs....emoticon-0105-wink.gif

My car hopefully not too far away.

Sorry if a dumb question - but if I quote that number to the Skoda dealer, they should be able to supply one (or is it my local VW dealer I need to speak to ?). ?

In theory yes... but I always try to get the parts guy (gal?) to call up the exploded parts list on the computer to make sure i am getting what I want (this is what I have done in relation to the underseat storage boxes).

As to whether it's a Skoda part or a VW part I would guess the latter. It would be interesting to see if there is any difference in price between Skoda, VW or Seat.

Here are the labels on the box.

Hi Tom

if it was originally designed for the Yeti the part number sould have started with 5L (Platform code PQ35 5L)

I am pretty sure it was originally a Fabia II part (Platform PQ24 5J)
