HELP PLEASE...... again

Featured Replies

This really IS NOT MY F*****G year.

What I have done is in my other thread.

Tonight After it got too dark to continue on the car I decided to clean the rims and take them in to put some Poorboy's wheel sealer on. As I was doing it I noticed this MONSTROSITY! What the hell, it is the front Drivers side Rim that I am changing to the back.

I have not hit anything, curbed it or hit any pot holes as I go round them. I look after my car and I dont rag it, I dont go flyin over humps and stuff, so why is all this happening now!!

here is the pic of the crack.

These are nearly 18 month old thats all maybe not even that.(End of August 2008 they went on the car so nearly 17)

is that not a big kerb mark on the leg you can see in the pic???

really isnt your year is it buddy???

sorry no thats the sealer Ive been puttin on I just didnt take it off.

Nope it is not really

Billy mate, I feel for you. Does kind of look like there is a curb marking on the spoke of the wheel directly above the crack, that may explain the knock and shock to crack that rim.

Other than that I am at a loss to guess why that would happen mate.

never been curbed or hit a pot hole

cheap copies thats why :giggle::giggle::giggle:

only joking buddy could have just been a casting issue and the cold weather has got to it....

  • Author

do you think I should call TD? as they are not that much over a year old? and there is no sign of a nock.

I hope they are not copies, they have all srl no on them n stuff and I had to wait 3 week after I ordered them.

I defo think you should call them mate.

Those wheels look pristine, so you should have no trouble fighting your case. TD are a big company and I would think they would support you ok.

Mark.

where did you buy them from???

the way to tell if there copies is by weighing them.

its hard to get anything back as a pot hole could do this to a wheel.

really you need to see how deep the crack is by taking the wheel off and getting a specialist to xray it......

ring them and ask they can only say yes or no

lol

cheers for the info

I dont think they are copies as they are lighter than the std 17" ones.

Ill give them a bell tomorrow, as said the worse they can say is NO. hopefully they wont but who knows. They are pristine, Ive always used bilbery stuff on them to clean them and coated them with poorboys so Ive done all I can, I am hoping its just a weak one thats not turned out right,

we shall see

billy

I know a bloke with a BMW 330i who has had a near identical failure on the same rims, coincidence?

  • Author

what happened? and when did he get his rims? mine were ordered in Aug 2008.

Does anyone know Who I can call, Ive tried sending emails but cant seem to find were to.

  • Author

Thank you

billy

Yeah I'd say speak to Team Dynamics direct, and explain the issue. Offer to send them pictures of the crack and to ask them to arrange for collection of the rim, so that they can properly inspect it.

Obviously having a rim crack is a serious issue and I'm sure they wouldn't want such bad press on one of their most popular wheels.

I'm sure they will be more than willing to replace the wheel with a new one, and will be quick to dismiss the crack as not dangerous to cover their reputation.

If they don't comply, and dismiss your request, just remind them that you'll be warning the thousands of people on this forum and others that they shouldn't buy Team Dynamics wheels because they are dangerous. That'll bring them into line!

Good luck with it Billy

OK the email address wont accept the pics and Ive checked the Rim and it doesnt leek any air so its back on the car so I can turn it round to start on the front.

  • Author

you cant contact him on that unless you pay

ne mind ill try calling again

I didn't know that; Maybe we have a subscription here?

  • Author

ok, Ive got in touch with them again today and they seem very helpful, unfortunately their emails wont accept attachments? so Ive put links of the photobuchet pictures in it so hope it works.

Hope you get it sorted Billy.

Hmm I was thinking of getting the DT Pro race 1.2's but not sure now...

Have you heard anything back yet mate ???

  • Author

OK

heard back from Jon, he seems to think its just a crack in the paint (I hope thats all it is) but that I need to get them refered back to Billy Boys Tyres where I got them from for inspection then he will get them back to Rim stock..

I called Billy Boys in sheffield this morning and basically he didnt seem interested as they are over 12 months old?

What can I do?

Ill be on the phone tomorrow to Billy Boys again but I have a funny feeling Ill need now wheels? its naf really seen as these tyres still have 2mm of tread on the front and 4-5mm on the rear.

If you want a tyre that outlives rims lol get khumo 712s lol

gotta look on the funny side lol

Mark,

They are good mate, look awsome and are good for eco, and make the car feel a lot nicer on the roads, but I wish id just got some more replicas for half the price and have them last 2x longer, I still wouldnt of spent £350 extra on fuel lol

depending on what happens ill prob keep eyes open for 1 or 2 others so I can Have a spare too lol,

Edit 29/01/2010

depending on what happens Ill have 3 up for sale and the 4th for a few £ for someone who fancies a chance that its only paint crack
