interior lights

Featured Replies

Here we go

my wife has an 03 superb that has a bit of a problem. the FRONT interior lights(both main and map lights) dont work,(the rear interior lights do) the lights under the mirrors dont work, nor dose the glove box light as well as the puddle lights underneth the doors.

these dont work on either the drivers or passenger doors

all fuses work.

now i have read on the site that it could be a micro swich in the door?

Please Please help as i nearly beat the car with a hammer yesturday :(

Check the passenger side rear footwell carpets are dry, water ingress through the pollen filter housing is a common fault on Superb's and Passat's there is a walk through on a fix for it here (currently the link is not working - hopefully it will be back soon).

When the carpet gets wet the CCM unit floods, this CCM controls all the lights that have gone faulty.

Thanks for that, i will do when she's home later, but why do the rear interior lights work fine???? i would have thought they would either all work or not

Depends on how bad the terminals have corroded in the CCM (or in the multi-plug behind the kick panel in the front passenger side footwell).

This is the biggest problem with this car, so i would be checking there first.

Mine did exactly the same, rear lights still worked. Well it was doing it when I bought it, got it fixed under 3 month warranty :)

is it the ccm unit or just the conections, ifs it the unit are they expensive?

the carpet seems dry, but when moving the kick panel/carpet the lights all come on "dimly". i will have ago over the weekend. thanks alot

There is a multiple join in the harness near the CCM which feeds all of the interior lights - red/blue wires as I recall.

It's a complete bodge job at the best of times, and a sniff of water corrodes the lot as it is permanently live. Pull the harness out and strip back the outer covering to inspect. Corroded joints here cause some (or all) of the interior lights to fail.

Thanks, VAG for continuing this known fault from the Passat into the Superb. Why do you treat your customers like dirt?

i have taken the kick panel off and all seems dry, i have undone most of the conectors and once again all seems ok, as there are so many connectors does any one know which one feeds the interior lights ?

thanks

Hi guys.

I have the same trouble with a superb 02 plate V6TDi.

Is the kick panel the one in the front or rear foot well.

Also which Passat does the superb wiring transfer over from as I have wiring diagam for VW.

Thanks

Front passenger side foot well (on a UK RHD car)

The Superb is based on the B5 / B5.5 Passat.

I have EXACTLY the same issue on my 55 plate Superb. There is no sign of water ingress under the carpets. I have had the problem for about a year now and I have no idea what is wrong. If you find a fix, please let me know. Thank you.

Yes, exactly the same as me, no water ingress for me either. (Red/Black wire, by he way).
