No display on my stereo, HELP!

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

I have a 56 Octy TDI VRS estate that has developed a curious problem.

I bought it last June (ex-lease hire) so it didn't come with an owners manual, now I think I have a columbus stereo fitted. It has a 6 disc multichanger, Aux facility and came with Sat nav. My propblem started in the middle of the recent cold weather when one morning on my way to work I lost the screen display on the stereo and it went white but the stereo/radio still worked. This has continued for the past 3 weeks or so where occasionally the screen will come back only to go again the next day. I have even had it that when I turn the ignition on the screen comes back but when I start the engine I lose the screen again.

Anyone got any ideas? or am I doomed to have to take it to a garage?

Real pain in the backside as it means that the sat nav is useless at the moment.

Thanks

Steve

Sounds like the HV circuit that drives the screen has a fault. Car audio specialist or garage job I'm afraid.

Thanks for the reply,

Thought that might have been the case, best book it in then.

Could be the connections on the back of the LCD display :'( to fix that you would have to strip the unit down and clean the rubber like strips between the PCB and the display with a cotton bud and some switch cleaning spray, worth trying if they say its a bin job. cheers - Stuart.
