Hi Folks, Im aware swapping the headunit over in the Mk1 Octavia is pretty simple, how abut the front door speakers/tweeters also?

-What size are they as stock?

-What depth speaker is required?

-Use wiring adaptors to use stock dash/door wiring?

Im a little confused so far so would appreciate some advice.

Any pics/guides most welcome

I did this on my mk1 vrs:

replace HU nice and easy (although had to remove glove box to ease wires in the open space behind HU)

remove rear speakers from boot (bad quality)

disconnected rear tweeters in rear doors (ruins sound stage)

bin the front speakers due to them being poor.

i bought a pair of Fli Intergrator 6 speakers from Halfords, 30 quid, awesome co-axial speakers, makes the sound very good, with a good range of frequencies. I did not use connector adapters, just cut the OEM connector off and wierd up the speakers (cudnt be bothered with messing about with connectors lol)

These speakers are then ran off an amp which is in the boot, along with the sub. The rear speakers i replaced with some i had lying around from a previous car, and these just act as fill.

balance all the audio up and hey presto BOOM! awesome sound for not much dollar.

I did not take any photos of the process but its very easy, just be careful when you remove the front speakers guards on the doors, as i managed to snap a bit off mine ( being very heavy handed and a bull in a china shop approach)

front spks r 17cm diameter

rears i managed to get 13cm ones to fit but i made mdf adapter plates for those. .. .

jobs a goodun.

obviously you wanna look at the power of your HU (or amp if applicable) and make sure you match the outputs right or else you will blow ur speakers or may risk having poor / low sound by using speakers will a too high rating with a low output from your HU / amp
