REAR TYRE WEAR ON OCTAVIA SCOUT

Featured Replies

I'M having problems with my scout wearing tyres out, for the 1st 40k had no issues but since had 2 sets of tyres, 1st set went castleated on insides and made a hell of a noice like bearings but my local garage said it was tyres, i fitted a couple of part worn and tried a different pressure as i carry a lot of weight and though not castleated still scrubbed insides first after only a few thousand miles, Is it antyhing to do with the 4x4 sytem and have any other scout owners had any similar issues with tyres and can anyone suggest a fix.All answers welcome

Go for a 4 wheel re-alignment. My 09 VRS was eating rear tyres, from inside as well. Turned out the wheels were within factory limits for camber (I think) but were still tilted enough to eat the insides of the tyres. Re-alignment was done under warranty but as the car already had "enough" mileage I didn't have a claim for the tyres.. Luckily it's a company lease car so I don't have to worry about the tyre costs.. still, annoying.

You say you carry a lot of weight ,make sure you leave the weight in the car when you have a full geometry check.

Thanks for the advise guys.

If you read honest john in the telegraph he has a lot to say about those horrible "half" speedbumps (the ones that ambulances are supposed to be able to straddle) mashing the inside edges of tyres.

There's a lot of threads on this and other forums about this problem. For example...
