Impressive economy run

Featured Replies

Had my Fabia Blackline about 2 weeks now, just been for a drive down to South Wales (via the A49, the motorway trip is tedious and boring) to collect sister who's come 'home' for a week... brimming the tank before hand and then before coming back.

Managed 49mpg. Not bad for the 1.4 8v pushrod engine! I guess it's helped by the fact huge chunks of that road are long 60mph stretches with little in the way of traffic lights/sharp corners.

Anybody else managed to get similar/better out of this workhorse?

Not out of the 1.4 no im afriad not. However did see 61mpg (trip tho) out of the 1.2 HTP engine on a run up to the Lakes once :) Saw 55-60mpg most of the time infact... in grandad mode.

Yeah I was driving in grandad mode on this run .... Obviously I don't expect to get that kind of economy all the time, but it's good to know it's possible in the right conditions! (town driving seems to kill it, especially Warrington when it's busy! I have a knack of getting caught at every single set of lights!)

If I get my gearbox sorted, i'll let you know what I get on my next big run (there's a trip to Cornwall planned from Sheffield - so that should be a good indicator!)

manage to got a nice 40mpg from the 16v.

Yeah my normal weekly run seems to be getting around this so far, maybe high 30s if not 40... the fiesta used to do mid 40s, but it was a much more modern engine design!

Likewise - 40 is the average for mine in normal driving (16v). If on a run at slow speeds I have seen about 50-52mpg. But that was having lorries going passed at times.emoticon-0106-crying.gif

Hehe, Thats how I ended up with 61.3mpg or something out of the 1.2 petrol in the MK2 company car once :D

I hit 40mpg in my VR6 on the run to South Wales

ive had 3mpg come up in the jag (xkrs incase you dont know which one), considering i was flying at the time i thought it was quite good!

I got an impressive 48mpg in the skoda on the motorway the other day and was doin about 65/70 all the way, one think i have found is that the computor never seems to match the miles it says it has left, it gave me 300 once and driving to when the petrol light came on i got 330 :giggle: im prety happy if i get around 30mpg with my normal driving :) gota say though it is very economical compared to other cars i have driven!
