Been thinking of getting a machine polisher and a bit unsure of what to go for , Kestrel DAS6 or the Meguiars ???

Also whats the best stuff to use Meguiars / Menzerna / 3M / Poorboys , the paint is really good and only has a few really light swirls so think it wont take much to get them out.

I just got the Megs G220 Menzerna kit from Cleanyourcar.co.uk. The DAS6 is much cheaper, but the G220 is really well built.
Spent 9 hours doing the VRS yesterday, and it has come up a treat. Best combo of pads and polish I found was as follows.

Initial correction Menz Power Finish on Menz Orange pad
Refine. Menz Super Finish on Menz Yellow pad.

Bloomin' hard work mind  By the time you put the wax on, you have been over each panel four times.
If you do get the Menzerna kit, label each bottle after you have worked out which is which. For example, their Power Gloss is actually a compounding agent to remove wet sanding marks. Final Finish and Super Finish look identical, but Super Finish works best on VAG paint.

Found this today,
http://www.polishedb...ould-i-use.html
look under
My car has hard paint and I want to polish it using a dual action machine polisher; what polishes and pads should I use?
as German Cars are considered Hard

Thinking about one of these myself,
http://www.cleanyour...t/prod_522.html
£119.95

OR
http://www.polishedb...sterZDAS6HP0%29
£163.95

I am leaning in the direction of the 1st kit, and planned on buying additional Menzerna x3 3.5" Spot Pads, & Flexipads 50MM DA Backing Plate.

Just had the DAS6 delivered today - Couldn't justify the Megs as it's only infrequent use at the moment but you never know! Looking forward to trying it out :)

The DAS-6 all the way!
It's way powerfuller than you actually need, there quite well built and i find it easier to use without the handle.

Good call

From what I can tell (and been told), it is more than capable and you are unlikely to see any difference between that and the Megs. One ting I wasn't sure about was if it had a variable speed control but after opening ours today, I am pleased to say it does! :)

A picture to prove its more than capable ;)

That was using the meguiars range of polishes with Meguairs 6" Foam Pads and 3" Autobrite Foam Pad.

Or in this picture you can see the "corrected" upper body panel which was quite badly marked, as the bumper illustrates.
After a few passes working the compound in, i was only left with the odd RDS.

Im not a pro like Baker, but i would recommend making sure you take your time and go steady on the paint working your way up from the finer compounds and pads if the marks aren't coming out.

Preperation is a key part, the paint always feels great after claying the car :)

I'm no Pro and still learning plenty but I would say your spot on with your comment's, take your time, don't expect massive results straight away, a DA takes time to perfect to cut through deep marks but can make any motor look like new with some time spent on it.

With regards to the differences between a Kestrel and the G220, I can't comment but I know that the Kestrel is well respected on DW and I have now taken the plunge and own a Kestrel Rotary so am currently working with that........

I bought the MZ DAS-6 kit, with 3 MZ polishes and 3 Sonus pads. Have found it nice and easy to use and had some good results (for an amateur) at removing swirls. This was using the most cutting pad and MZ power-finish polish, on my Dad's mk5 GTI's B pillar
