STS Stage 2 on a 2.0TFSI

Featured Replies

Another big thanks to Ben at Shark Performance for the Stage 2 on my Octavia VRS.

I have been driving the car with the Stage 2 for about a month now and wanted to use this time to fully check things out before posting on this forum. Moving on from another Stage 1 map involved fitting a 3" downpipe with sports cat and the combination with Ben's Stage 2 is fantastic. The car pulls great and I am feeling the additional torque particularly at speed e.g. putting the foot down to over-take.

I won't go into a full review with every detail as it would only echo some of the previous reviews and praise. It is enough to say that I am another happy customer.

It seems that some folks with 3" DPs can also get a CEL warning and not just those with decatted downpipes due to the rear oxygen sensor sensing an 'inefficiency'. This is nothing to do with the map but Ben agreed to tweak it to map out the CEL. I hope to hear back from him soon to take him up on that offer! In short, if you do run into problems, Ben is still there to help where possible which is not the case with many others.

The only other problem is that Ben has developed a Stage 3....and I have Autotech fuel pump internals coming and a cold air intake....and VRSy has Ben's Stage 3  ....and now I want it too!! :p

why am i always to blame :p . im innocent i tell you.

have you ordered an intake yet. that guy with the HKS intake is still trying to sell it. I say offer him £200 and see what he says. they retail @ over £500(overpriced TBH) but still its a bargain.

ive also found an ITG intake for sale for £250. but its from a k04 golf, not a problembecause a replacement pipe to connetct to the turbo is only cheap.

is this what you mean about watch sy he'll cost you money

Thanks for the PM.

I have ordered an intake but it is a bit of a project that I set myself to avoid spending money (yup, it's 'spot the Scot' time again :smirk: ). In short, bought a cheapo intake from a guy on the GTI forum but I only did it for the pipe - the filter is getting ditched in favour of a new Apexi that I also bought. (I was interested in the HKS but again, I wanted the pipe and was worried about lack of filtration with the HKS filter. If I had seen the ITG, I would have taken it in a shot - I love the look of those things and customising it wouldn't be a problem!). Part 2 of the project is the cold air box that I need to build DIY - After seeing Hauptman's project (and all due respect for a fellow DIYer!), I have a plan.... but one that doesn't involve quite as much Bacofoil :giggle:

Yes!

i know the one. i think i posted up a link a while back. hopefully the intake piping has the correct internal dianmeter or your fuel trims might be out as the car has to adapt to the difference in internal maf diameter. good idea to change that filter though. is it a foam or cotton variety you are going for. iirc jonnyc on the mk5 forum has spare evoms filter. i dont htink there will be an issue with using the same style of heat shield as i have with this new filter of yours. how far around the battery housing does it go.

maybe chuck up a bew thread in the octy 2 forum so we can have a look without spamming this one to death ;)
