Stream mp3 - basic question

I do a lot of sitting outside places waiting for shall we say mature ladies to return to the car. If I switch the radio on, I'm amazed that I have to switch the sidelights on to get the buttons and display to light up. Is this normal? All other car radios even back to the days of positive earth have always lit up when switched on.
When I cycle through the menus, I see that Bluetooth and aux input appear as options. Does this mean they actually exist? I haven't seen any aux connector anywhere, and don't know what to expect any bluetooth device to do. My phone bluetooths to my laptop. Does this mean it should do something with the radio?
I think I'm getting too old for all this.

Select the arrow at bottom right of screen.
One of the options is now illumination. You can change this from option 1 to option 2 -- can't help as to what these functions actually do, but they do alter the way the backlight works. Have a play to see which option is best for you

I sat outside M&S tonight while the ladies went in to buy tea and talk and looked through the radio manual. It doesn't mention the ILLUM option at all.
