Another thumbs up for Shark Performance - Mk 2 DSG vRS now with added paddles & MFSW

Featured Replies

Paid a visit to Shark Performance at Mansfield today, and came away with a big smile on my face

Thanks to Ben I now have a multi-function paddle steering wheel fitted

I'll have to cope with looking at the VW badge for now, but I can live with that

Seeing that badge I thought you had bought a proper car but alas no.... ;)

Pretty sweet. One question though - what's that funny little green screen in the dash pod? I don't think I've got that on mine?

Is this your face right now? - :dull:

Hmm, nice. I'm thinking of getting a Golf GTi non paddle wheel for mine - may have to have a word with Ben..................

any reason why you went for a vw wheel rather than the OE skoda wheel with paddles/buttons?

The Skoda paddle wheel only became available on the facelift interior, and the connections are different to the pre-facelift model.

We (as in Ben, as I'm a complete numptie with anything technical) are still looking into whether anything can be rewired to make the facelift wheel compatible.

As wardth has said above though, now we know a Golf Mk V wheel will fit and work, I might be tempted to get a GTi 'flat-bottomed' wheel at some stage

The Mk6 Golf wheel fits the Mk5 Golf so I don't see why the facelift Octy wheel shouldn't fit.

The wheel might fit, the problem is whether or not the paddles and multi-functions will work.

Having done a bit of research on the subject, I found a site which covered retro-fitting VW paddle wheels, and they seemed to suggest that the Mk 6 and Mk V weren't automatically compatible.

Having said all that, I think I prefer the Mk5 flat-bottomed wheel to the Mk6

Should have got Maxidot at the same time....

Nice job - looks great

I saw it being fitted. Looks very smart. The car looks awesome too

I always wanted the stereo controls on the steering wheel, however finding a used Scout with them on wasn't easy.

Just out of curiosity how much was the wheel fitted (excluding the DSG paddles)?

I would have done if I'd been supplied with the right part from abroad - the one supplied is for a PD engine, and I need one for a CR  - so if anyone wants to buy a brand new vRS maxidot off me at cost price feel free to PM me

Have a look on German ebay for the wheel price - there are loads available, but then you'll also have to get hold of an airbag.

Give Ben (shark_90) a PM to get a quote for fitting

Great, thanks!

Forgot to mention that you might also need a different steering wheel controller, slip ring and airbag wiring loom if you are going from a non -MF steering wheel.

A full scan with VCDS should tell you which steering wheel controller you have fitted currently

So far I haven't cracked it, as there were massive changes in the electronics between the Mk5 and MK6 Golf/Octavia II and FL.

It's the brake pedal/shift indicator thingy for the DSG box.

And there was me thinking he was taking the p*ss out of my non-maxidot dashboard :dull:

Is there a Skoda 3 spoke MFSW (without paddles - manual car) that will fit a pre-FL Octy vRS? Would't be happy with a VW badge at all.

Edited by willskoda

No there's not, but I am working on using the new Skoda FL RS wheel. It has paddles but I'm sure that's not too much of an issue :)
