How to get ITV HD on your Sky HD box

Featured Replies

nice one! done! :D

Another Sky / ITV related tip - Tune in to ITV 1 West Country instead of your normal ITV 1 region. It runs double the bit rate of the other regions and higher resolution, so it's actually watchable on a large 1080p screen.

But you cant understand a word they say :)

Cool,

Doesn't work for me. I have the new Ep Guide, I've followed all the steps, but it just comes up with a screen saying "no sattelite signal being received."

Thats weird, I just double checked mine and its working ok, some period drama looking thing on.

I think you will find that ITV HD is coming to Sky very shortly.

According to the article i read, ITV HD is due on Sky and Virgin Media on April 2nd.

On a similar subject, various places on the interweb are saying Sky have just bagged Five HD. How annoying that Five HD comes to Sky after canning Fifth Gear, which is the one show i'd have loved in HD!

Surely only in 1080i though? :dull:

No, 704x576i instead of the dire 544x576i.

ITV HD, Hallmark HD and Sky Sports 4 HD......... http://corporate.sky.com/investors/press_releases/2010/HD_channel_milestone

Five HD......... http://corporate.sky.com/investors/press_releases/2010/Five_HD.htm

Other info suggests that Virgin have done the deal with Film4 to have Film4HD exclusive to Virgin along with Living HD...... So looks like Living HD won't be coming to Sky anytime soon.

Cheers

Dave.

What I was trying to say was that you can't watch Sky at 1080p as the output is only 576p or 1080i - not the resolution or bit rate!

You brought up the 1080p telly Nick - not me :giggle:

As a slight update on ITV going on to the Sky EPG in April, it seems that ITV seems to be showing all ITV1 programmes also on ITV HD at the moment.

I’ve been using the Sky HD system to watch ITV ever since I got my EPG update (doesn’t work on the old EPG) but found the fact you cant record or even pause it a bit of a pain :( I’m glad to see that ITV are doing a permanent Tx on SKY soon. The bigger bandwidth/bit rate will help the SD pictures, which on Freeview are rather poor (aren’t they all - even BBC1 on it’s fixed band width:( ) Now if only I could buy a cheap Freeview HD PVR, I would rule the world with 5 PVRs. I think I am turning into Currys’ :( :D
