Lidl car polisher - any good?

found this and wondered if it was any good. i would like a machine polisher and wondered what the difference was between this and other more expensive models, such as the ones the pro detailers use.

Useless mate. A proper DA has a 550 watt motor and velcro backing plate to take different pads. CYC are doing an offer on the DAS6 complete Menzerna kit for £130

I would guess the Lidl one might be OK at applying / buffing wax, but I very much doubt it will be any good at all for polishing and paint correction,

This was my thought! I was in there getting a jack & axle stands yesterday and took a good look around the polisher. Sure it seems OK for the money, but if it needs anything serious, it just wasn't going to cut it (no pun intended.....) :D

Thats what I thought anyway, but thanks for confirming it. I am just too tight to spend £130 on a polisher for my car! SWMBO says that there are more important things to spend money on!

She's wrong, but don't tell her I said that

Calling a DAS6, etc a "polisher" is a bit of an understatement :D They are so much more than that :D

In the grand scheme of things the polisher will do a job but it all depends on your requirements I guess, if you want to apply a glaze or light polish then I am sure it will be fine but as stated it's not going to complete any swirl removal................

I see Dodo Juice have now released their own machine to challenge for the DA sales:

Yeah they are all pretty much the same machine just branded differently, good old Dodo Juice have worked well to come up with that name for it's machine.......

If cheap matters, see this thread over on detailing world....

it's quite a bit to wade through unfortunately. In short though you need a random orbital sander with a velcro backing pad of about 125mm, with a variable speed of around 4000 to 12000 OPM, and at least 400w motor. You then need some pads, for example http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/menzerna-135mm-polishing-pad.php and polish and you should be away.

The Lidl one will be just a rotary type thing and will be useless. I have a similar machine that I doubt I'll ever use again.

Yeah i bought that lidl one here in ireland thinking it would be alright like but it was completly ****, any kind of pressure applied to it and it would slow right down, i brought it back and got my money back :D
