Workshop Manual on Ebay

Featured Replies

I saw this on ebay too. Etka is the VAG online system that dealers have to diagnose workshop problems. I can't beleive this sort of thing is in the public domain, so I'd be fascinated to know where this come from. I see the item comes from Estonia, so maybe its someone with a source from the factory??

I think like most of the disks of this type on ebay, they are illegal copies of the software.

Not sure on ebay policy, if I shouldn't be doing this then please delete thread.

Anyone any idea as to whether this is OK?

I've just signed onto Ebay and asked the supplier if the disc includes latest Yeti SE model with 140 diesel mechanical and electrical systems. I will let you know what comes back.

Just got a reply from the Ebay supplier who indicated that the latest version of the Yeti as per my previous mail is included so for a tenner I will have a punt.

If it isn't kosher I will lodge a complaint with Paypal and get my money back.

I will post the outcome.

Received the ElsaWin CDs from the ebay auction site yesterday and spent an hour installing them and receiving the final access code from the vendor by email last evening.

On the installation blurb it indicates that it may not install easily with Windows XP Home but thats what I'm running and it worked a treat.

The system is obviously the main professional maintenance, recording and repair package for the VAG organisation vehicles as the data disc ran for what seemed an age during download and already it makes absolutely compelling reading and scrolling through the index and glossary for the Yeti over the past hour has been most interesting.

Best tenner I've spent for a long while and it will keep this retired engineer quiet for a while.

Seconded! emoticon-0144-nod.gif

I use ElsaWin and ETKA, both invaluable products for service, repairs, info and parts lists with schematics...

Last time few times were for: DSG oil change which cost £95 incl the home made filling rig I made up, brake fluid change which cost £8.20 for the fluid, spark plugs and some turbo related problems. No doubt if dealer got involved the cost would have been well into +£900. My next big job is the cambelt, parts cost about £130. Dealer price including parts will be £350 ish!

Bought the £3.98 one advertised. Well worth the money. Give most info I wanted, showing how panels fit etc.

Takes a bit of time to load but, full and I do mean full instructions how to load discs.

Hi Guys

My copy (just delivered and installed) asks for the vehicle details to show correct info - asks for the transmission number - anyone know how to find that for a 140hp diesel Elegance? Interesting stuff so far.

Cheers

You'll probably find that after a significant update (new version number possibly) it will stop working unless you change the date on your computer back several months (or years).

Once you've keyed in your VIN number, doesn't the transmission box have a drop down window that gives you various alternatives? Unless you really are looking at something to do with your own car's transmission, just randomly click on one of the options, as the transmission is irrelavent when looking at other items on the system.

Isn't the code for the transmission on the white sticker in the boot or handbook?

Wow! What a resource. Thank you.

You're welcome!

I've bookmark that site now!!

Thanks.

With that gem (and a Yeti) will I be allowed to join the club?

Oh! Alright then...

Hummm!

I haven't seen any "beer offerings" yet!!

Just for info - the VIN number is greyed out on the ebay copy I have

The clue is in where you got it from. It's a not entirely kosher copy.
