Shark Performance 2.0TFSI remap Dyno graph results

Featured Replies

I had my car on the rolling road on Wednesday and was very suprised by the graph. The power output is 268 bhp and about 280lbs of torque. The graph shows how smooth the power delivery is with no spikes or dips on the power. The dyno operator commented on how good the remap was. The other dyno graph is from my 182 cup on the same rolling road and with the same operator. So the figures are true and exact. The 182 had only a panel filter installed and is spot on what they should produce. Figures aside, the car is fantastic to drive and still gets me 35+mpg

Stage 2 I assume?

Can't wait to get my car on the rollers :)

from what i read on the clio sport forum whilst looking into a new car it seems like the 172/182 very rarely ever make the ststed output. most people on there seem to be in agreement that they are normally 10-15hp out

saying that even taking into account an over reading dyno, the figures are still good. im presuming stage 2 though

That is one smooth graph

Its actually a stage 1 map, but I believe it may already be fitted with an aftermarket down pipe sport cat of some sort? Though Im not sure and cant be bothered to get the jack out and check lol As standard, my car was quicker than other VRS I test drove before I bought this one. Now my car doesnt feel much slower than Bens VRS. However I am not too fussed about how much power it puts out. I like useable power and it is a pleasure to drive and I am pleased the graph reflects it :) Money well spent in my opinion!

Next mods are I am going to fit a neuspeed intercooler to manilfold pipe to help throttle response a little. I might consider the high flow discharge pipe, as from reading reviews on the Golf forums. They come quite highly rated, albeit a bit expenisive for what it is! On the plus side with the remap. Im seeing 35mpg on my run to work and 38mpg on the motorways. So it hasnt affected economy much, which is a bonus!

Crikey, I am running Shark's Stage 2 with a downpipe/sports cat and scored 245 on JKM's rollers. Wondering if I should go back to Stage 1 for more power :giggle:

What was the figure at the wheels? From the graph it looks like about 190bhp but that would mean 70hp drivetrain loss which can't be right?

Looks a nice smooth map there mate, I'm really impressed at just how tuneable the 2.0 motor is.

no that is at the fly wheel, JKMs rollers are renowned for their accuracy.

it is a different dyno therefore not comparable to your figures as they are very varied in the results. ie mine made 287hp on AMDs rollers but was onbly able to keep with bens stage 2 260Hp car and not beat it.

when it comes to dynos, ignore the figures of other peoples and then continue to use the same rollers then you have a a consistent common factor which means you will be able to see increases of various mods.

Totally agree with that. The results on a RR mean very little to me other than I had mine done at JKM with Stage 1 which then set the 'baseline' to measure increases on the same RR. The peak bhp was just a number that I paid little attention to - the torque curve was more important . 56OctyVRS's looks quite tidy in that respect so, even ignoring the quoted bhp, it looks like Ben has done another good job.

Yeah, I know - it was just me being a sarcy git ;)

Dyno Dynamics are renowned for their consistency from one end of the county to the other. Most won't like their honest readings but at least it's not just Etch a Sketch.

Etch a Sketch

   /imagines dyno operator with hands on the controls of an Etch-a-Sketch

If i would like to get the STS shark performance self tunning, would i need to go and visit the Shark service, or i just buy the STS with a Map on it?

I'm awaiting my 1.8TSi Scout and would like a bit of a tunning, but since i don't live in UK coming there is not an option. Or i'm left with BlueFin.

Cheers.

(Sorry for the hijack :)

Thanks, i will send an email to Shark and check the options. Cheers.

Can't say I agree with all this using the same rollers guaranteeing repeatability . Even with the same rollers you can get some huge variation between sessions just with how the car has been strapped down, tyre pressure and ambient temp
