Facelift Octavia Headlights

Featured Replies

Can you remove the headlamps to change the bulbs on the facelift Octavia in the same way as the previous model.?

I've tried mine but they don't want to move.

Had no problem with mine. Unscrew the white plastic bolt, pull the lever out and then the lights can be pushed forwards, one of mine was stiffer than the other, but didn't need too much force

Thanks for the advice -perhaps need to be more brutal.

Yeah you have to give them a firm tug - did mine a few weeks back.

Well, you unscrew the white plastic NUT actually.

The metal hook thing needs a strong pull and I'd advise wearing a pair of leather gloves to protect the finger used.

Be aware that the headlight might then tumble out of the aperture.

Ok, so my rushed response was a little out, nut/bolt, who cares :)

Seems my reply didnt make it for some reason.

As stated the answer is yes.

I use a pair of pliers to pull/push the lever as its a vicious little sod.

You can also flatten the dipped beam using the lever for driving on the wrong side of the road.

Can you really? Is this trick in the manual? I'm off to France in a couple of weeks so this would be preferable to buying some of those daft stickers to put on the headlamps.

Nope, its not in the manual, that refers you a dealer who will likely charge you to do it.

At the side of the dip beam unit is a bright metal lever, simply move this this sideways and it will flatten the dip beam to keep the foreign plods happy.

If you want to be sure it has moved OK, take the bulb out and see what it does when you move the lever.

Dead easy.

Sounds easier than changing the bulbs in a Ford Ka. Autocar reported that someone was charged £104 for having two headlight bulbs changed, as they have to remove the bumper!

Ive been told some Audis are like that as well.

Makes having to carry spare bulbs abroad a bit of a joke.

Last shape Megane is a complete sod too... To change the bulb in those, you have to turn the steering wheel, remove a panel in the front of the wheel arch and reach in... you need to be double jointed at the shoulder and the elbow and able to change the bulb without seeing what you are doing...
