Tailgate warning light

Featured Replies

Hi i am a newbie to the forum.

My Roomster display is telling me the tailgate is open when it isn't. The warning goes away when sidelights/headlights are turned on but reappears immediately they are turned off.

I have noticed that the luggage compartment light does not go off when the door is closed but does go off when sidelights turned on.

Tailgate door auto lock does not work and indicators do not flash when locking but do flash when unlocking.

A friend has plugged in his diagnostic equipment with no codes reported.

Any help/advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks

There must be some sort of switch on the tailgate that detects when it is closed - possibly needs adjusting slightly. (can't check personally as I'm offshore at the mo)

I know that when we test drove our latest roomster the remote central locking would not flash the indicators when locking, found out it was due to the trade plate straps preventing the door from closing completely (although it did look properly closed) Once the temporary plates were removed the locking reverted to normal. Strangely there was no warning light on the dash to say a door was open, but as that drive was done in November in Aberdeen the vehicle lamps would probably have been on anyway.

Maybe the lock mechanism itself needs a tweek to pull the door closer to the bodywork ? Does your door rattle at all when going over bumps etc ?

It's not necessarily your tasilgate. It could be any of the doors. Does you tailgate unlock on its own when you press the centre button on the key? If so does it then lock again when you close it?

Thanks for the reply. I will have the panel off at the weekend and get a good luck at the lock mechanism. I haven't noticed any rattles.

Thanks for the reply. The tailgate does unlock on its own when the centre button is pressed but does not lock on closing. I have to lock with top locking button which does the trick but indicators do not flash and luggage compartment light stays on.

Definately something wrong. Mine locks when closed and the lights flash. If it was due to a door not closing properly, or if the system thinks one isn't shut, the lights don't flash, but the doors don't lock. Is it still in warranty? You may need to see a dealer if so.

You guessed it! Warranty ran out 4 months ago. The door is shut as snug as a bug so I reckon it is either a faulty boot latch or an electrical fault (suspected due to warning going off when sidelight come on).

I've got an auto electrician coming to have a look tomorrow. If that fails I will have to bite the bullet and try the dealer/stealer who wants £80 + vat just to diagnose.

Thanks for your help

Found the fault. Rear washer pipe has split inside the rubber manifold where it enters the tailgate door(Top left as you look in). The leaking water/anti freeze additive has corroded the connector for luggage compartment light causing a short.

Now need to fit new rear wash wipe pipe. I need to start a new topic!

or depending on th split, go to your local pet shop and look at the plastic connectors for fish tank air hoses (tend to be about the same size and only 1 or 2 pounds
