So Poly bushes or rubber (non voided where available) bushes on the car?
What's the advantages and disadvantages of each.
I heard the plastic ones last longer as the rubber ones don't like salt.
I think I may need to look at replacing some that are getting tired and was looking at all the rear arb bushes with the original arb, and possibly the front arb bushes, front wishbones (is it worth doing front and rear?) and possibly checking out the gearbox mounts and dog bone.
At the moment the rubber ones are creaking and while the suspension seems to pass the bounce test by a long way, there can be moments where the car steering feels a bit wooley and the car almost feels slightly light on the road.
So as well as pro's and con's I guess also which to replace and with what.
I don't want anything special as the car was fine when i got it, just something that will last a while and work.

Actually a bit of research appears to show poly bad, and the theory makes a lot of sense:

So I guess rather than my first post I should ask, does anyone have part numbers for the various non voided bushes available to fit from a GTI/TT to a MK II Octy.
Also is it worth just doing the whole wishbone rather than bushes and if so will a MK V GTI one be a straight swap for the ones already there, assuming they come with the solid bushes fitted?

OE rubber bushes are typically of the Metalastik type construction which is a vulcanised rubber/metal construction with the metal BONDED to the rubber. There is actually no rotation of the bush, the bush flexes (the rubber is in shear).
I have never been a fan of poly bushes, although I have fitted plenty for other people. Not only do they not function like a proper Metalastik bush, but the poly is very smooth and slippy so the outer of the bush doesn't always grip the bush housing like it should.
