Hello everyone, i got a bit concerned tonight when i went to fill up my Octy2 vrs tdi pd with diesel.
I noticed that when i went to morrisons petrol station, that the pump said 'diesel may contain up to 7% biodiesel' or words to that effect.
This slightly worried me given the fact that my fuel cap advises me not to put biodiesel in my car. I know its only approx 7% but if you put
45 litres of diesel in, then roughly 3 litres of that is biodiesel. Can this be right? I didn't know petrol companies were mixing fuel types together??
More to the point, why are they mixing fuel like this??

Do i need to worry about this level of biodiesel being put in my car given i am warned not to use it?
Can anyone explain please?

Cheers

All pump diesel in the UK is between 5-10% Bio. Has been for years. Don't worry about it. You PD will run fine on much more than 7% anyhow ;)

Oh right, didn't know that! You learn something new everyday.
Cheers Decron. I won't worry anymore. :)

Same story on the Continent, eg. Germany and the Netherlands. If it would give trouble, I am pretty sure the Germans would have told us (or at least would mention it on the German Octavia forum) :wonder:

All sellers of Diesel are obliged to include Biodiesel under the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation....
http://en.wikipedia....Fuel_Obligation

This isn't bad news at all though; in low concentrations, Biodiesel significantly enhances the lubricity properties of the diesel; it's just when you reach higher concentrations that you *can* get some problems.
