Does anyone know of a way to get the picture of a car either deleted or 'blurred' from Google street view ?

Now that street view covers almost all of the UK I am sure there must be a lot of folks want to do this, especially if their pride and joy was parked on the driveway when Google's camera car passed by.

Regards
Tony

I'm personally not worried about it, its nothing that people couldnt see if they didnt just drive down your street anyway,

I know what you are saying in principle however.

If you have a concern with an image click on the "Report a problem" on the bottom of the screen, it'll take you to a captcha and submit your report from there

Yeah had someone in the office flat about that, but again it's not as if you can hide it from people driving down the street!

And "gaps" in Street View would indicate to me - if I were a master mind criminal - that there is something that people want to hide, and thus, a good target :)

I'm not bothered about it at all. Streetview has been fully live in several eu countries and they all seem fine about it. There are parts in the UK that have had streetview for more than 12 months, it would be interesting to see if crime has got worse in that area.

As per babs though, if the picture were deleted it would say to me that they must have something to hide and may attract even more attention than leaving it online. Gaps in the coverage are far easier to spot rather than needing to zoom in to see the actual picture.

Looking for people outside massage parlours on it is moderately fun. :giggle:

For example, check out 228, gleadless road. You can see the bloke walking up to it as the van approaches and then as the van has passed, he's still there, standing sheepishly outside.

I think they knocked off for the day outside my house because my car is on the front if you stand on the right of the house, but one click to the left and it's round the corner in the car park. Gets a lot sunnier too :)

Just been hunting around my neck of the woods, the car is outside the office and the van is parked outside of the house :)

Just report a problem and they'll look into it. I had to get them to blur the wife's numberplate. It was done within a few days no argument.

2nd that. The road behind my house is a private road owned by residents. Google had taken pictures of that road and posted it. I contacted them and asked them to remove it, since they don't have any right to even be on it to take pictures in the first place. Got a email back yesterday and it's been taken off already. So it seems they do take complaints seriously and deal with them quickly, because they must have had loads.

It would seem that you specifically had a case, but you can have a private road which is still a public right of way, in which case I think they'd have every right to maintain the photo database.
