Octavia 2010 Estate Mudflaps

Featured Replies

I have just taken delivery (March 1) of an Octavia Estate, and am finding that the back window, door and bumper are covered in dirt and spray - the rest of the car is fine.

I have searched on the site and, made me laugh anyway, there is a reference to the rear flaps being as useful as a chocolate teapot! Is this the general opinion?

I am considering fitting some black RallyflapZ, but will only do so if my diagnosis is backed up by others' experience.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

That would be my quote, as the rear mudflaps are so short they basically do not much, I will have to take a side on photo.

The mudflap protrudes 25mm lower than the bumper:

Many thanks for the photos - exactly my situation. In my opinion they need to be at least 25mm longer to be effective.

I had a Volvo V70 for years, and never had any problem at all, but the flaps were longer.

I don't understand why they are so short, it's not like the Octavia sits low enough to ever catch them on the road. I'd be interested to see how much the rallyflapz ones sit below the bumper.

A chap called Matthew posted his photos on a VRS thread:

and you can see the increased length.

I would be looking to fit plain black ones.

An update on the mudflap saga:

I contacted the people who make RallyflapZ, and they only make flaps for the VRS. They are, however, willing to send me a set and refund me if they do not fit the Octavia estate.

Does anyone know what the difference is, if any?

The manufacturers did state that they will probably be willing to make some for the Octavia estate if we express an interest - seem really straight people.

I had standard, shortish, VW flaps front and rear on my Passat B5.5 estate.

The rear ones always scraped on ramps when more than two people were in the car. Caused great alarm to rear passengers- especially those sensitive about their weight.
