Help Columbus and Bluetooth Coding Problem

Featured Replies

I installed a Columbus and bluetooth in my FL Octavia. The Columbus has 2684 firmware so has voice control. The Bluetooth is 1Z0 035 729 E. All worked fine I then asked my local dealer to code the car for the additions. The maxidot now displays Audio and Sat Nav fine, but no Telephone and the Voice control is now disabled. They are at a loss what to do - This took them 3 hours to mess up!

Any ideas what I should tell them to do using the kit they use??

I am begining to wish I had left it as it was.

One of the Bluetooth Modules (and i think yours is one of them) doesn't display the phone option on the Maxidot.

You should still however have the functionality from the MFD3.

With regards to Voice Control it is hit and miss for it Working. 2684 was supposed to fix this problem from 2660. However it appears it hasn't.

I tried for 7 hours the other day to get it to work in a mates car. I also know of at least one other person who also had a 5 hour Epic that couldn't be sorted.

Thanks for the encouraging words there thats made me feel a lot better!

The unit I have got is this one LINK so it should be fine with the Maxidot, and the voice control was fine until the car was coded. I hadnt connected the bluetooth kit mic to the Columbus yet, but put a seperate mic in until I re-routed the cables.

I am still hopeful the dealer will have an answer, but its two days since they had a go and no phone call yet. Will ring them tommorrow.

Don't worry I won't be asking you to spend 7 hours on it!!

Matt

I'm pretty sure you need the OEM Mic for Voice Control.

Also iirc the 729E Modules don't work with Maxidot. I might have that wrong as I know one of the Modules doesn't just can't remember which one it is.

If you are near Folkestone I don't mind trying to solve it for you. I got one to work on one of my friends cars just not the 7 hour one :giggle:

It was all working fine before the dealer got hold of it. Voice on Dailing, Navigation, Radio etc. was perfect,I was using a mic from a Bury kit no problems.

All I wanted was the sat nav on the MFD, not too worried about the Telephone as the Voice control would be OK for that.

Thanks for the offer I might take you up on that if the dealer has no resolution.

Matt.

As long as you get to me before the 26th March otherwise you will have to wait until after i get back from getting married and honeymoon which will be after the 19th April
