Skoda Felicia 1.6 into Favorit

Featured Replies

Hi all... I found a 1.6 Felicia. Today I began to dismantle the electronic...

I taked the ecu and the radiator, but I have a problem...

About the wiring... I found 2 gorups. 1 from ecu and injector etc. (second gorup) and another one connected to front lights, that goes inside the car. I taked only to the first. I have to take the first gorup only? Please help me... Cheers

yes the lighting loom is completely seperate from the engine loom, you wont need the lighting loom... there are a few minor differences in the lighting loom bewteen a 1.3 felicia loom and a 1.6 felicia loom, but that wont cause you many issues, but i'm not 100% familiar with a favorit so i cant comment on that..

make sure you get the immobilizer box and the inductive key reader off the ignition switch and the key too

you will need the fuel pump too as the 1.6 one is different..

... and also some way to stabilise the engine as the Fav has the lower mounting at the camchain end of the engine, the Fel at the bottom of the gearbox, so I'd take the lower mounting complete back to the subframe from the Fel...

ok i'll expand a little on what i said about the looms, on the 1.6 felicia looms the wiring for the oil pressure switch comes from the fuel injection loom, and on the 1300's it's on the lighting/power loom grouped together with the alternator sense cable

the radiator fan and it's switch in the radiator is wired differently too, on the 1300 loom the fan switch and permanent live for the fan are all formed as one piece with the main loon, but on the 1.6 it has different plug on the radiator fan and there is a short section of loom that detaches from the main loom, you will need to cut and extend the wires to the fan switch by about 30cm because the switch will now be in the opposite end of the radiator.

you will need the bracket that holds the ecu off the 1.6 felicia too which also has the ignition coil on it .. oh and you need the throttle cable from the 1.6 as well.

Thx all... your advice are gold (so very precious). Today I only deatached the accelerator cable, and drained the transmission oil. But I funded a oil radiator from and old Ford car... I am thinking about 1.6 turbo :-D. By the way I have other question for you...

1) How have I to remove the key code? (the felicia that I founded is complete except for key (is a problem?), and aviator motor)

2) I think that for oil pressure with new looms (1.6 looms of electronic ijection), I have 2 oil pressure switch... what I have to use?

3) about the alternator, what I have to do for mount the 1.6 (that is 90Amp :-D)

Thank you cheers... :-D

Good video - thanks

???

Has the forum done its trick of posting a reply in the wrong thread?

1. unfortunately it's not easy to do that, the best bet for you is to find a matching key and immo box... does not have to be from a skoda, any vag group car with immo1 system will do, mk3 golf, 6n polo, seat ibiza 6k etc etc

2. you will need to use the oil pressure switch from the orignial 1300 engine, they operate the oposite way to the vw ones, you need to use the oil pressure switch wire from the orignal 1300 favorit loom rather than the wire from the 1.6 felicia loom

3. best thing is to find the proper mounting bracket from a vw engine, pretty much any 6n polo or 6k ibiza will have a alternator bracket you can use.. i guess the favorit has no power steering?

FIRSTLY... TeflonTom thank you very much, you are telling me very precious advice, you are semplifing my work... :-D

1) I have a Polo and a Ibiza but how I can know if they are ok? what you mean for 6K? What component I have to take, from this car? and from felicia? (all for resolve the problem of the key...)

2) Ok

3) Favorit has not power steering and air conditioning, I have the alternator and bracket of felicia 1.6, my care are about for connecting the new alternator...

Thx all and stay tuned... :-D

@TeflonTom have you msn, or other istant messaging chat?

when i say 6k, that is the chassis type..

you need the siemens immo box, which is about 3 inches sqaure, it will be behind the instrument cluster, you also need the ring that goes over the end of the ignition barrel, the cable from this ring will be attached to the immo box, you also need the key that came with that car....

I posted that comment in a totally different forum after viewing this one! lol!

I have 2 news:

1) A mechanic told me that He can scodify the ECU to resolve the problem of the key, is it true?

2) I am loking the radiator, I note that it is the diesel version... take a look

yeah, that's a diesel one, i believe it is one from a car with aircon too, they have a dual speed fan

na all the diesel fans have 2 speeds mate

This car has got aircon, I saw electric diagram, and I think that I can modify it! I have also to remove the resistor...

New question, I saw that "new" Felicia models has got liquid cooled oil.

Now what is better air or water oil cooler? You have to consider that I will do turbo (about 0,5) this motor...

theoretically a liquid will cool another liquid more efficiently becuase it conducts heat better, but a water-to-oil cooler puts more strain on the cooling system... fresh air flowing through the front of the car is free

So, I take the modification from another car, and I will to conserve it. I have just take 2 oil radiator, when I finished i will adapt one of them :-D

TeflonTom are you able to draw an originanl Skoda with cad? I have a friend that can do some simulation to improve the aerodynamic... :-D

Many thanks to you TeflonTom... :-D

Hi people I didn't find the water oil cooler, :-( I am looking for spare parts... however I taked 2 air oil cooler and the 1.6 motor with shft is in my garage :-) I'll do some photo because the motor has got the air conditioning and power steering, I will remove all... so I think of regain so horse power and weight :-D

Well, if you're thinking of a turbo engine, you can't go far wrong with a bit of extra radiator capacity anyway. If you're buying used bits, I'd choose between oil-water and oil-air oil coolers based on what I can get in good nick, rather than some theoretical "which is better?" argument.

the oil cooler off a polo gti will fit, but you will need to change the thermostat housing too becuase it has an extra pipe for the oil cooler

I have not a Polo GTI but I taked 2 oil radiator, when I mount the motor I will see what is better, I taked from a diesel car!

Sorry what you mean for thermostat housing have you a photo or a part number?

However today I found an Vw alternator it is 60-120, I think that it is better than the 90 that I actually have. But this 60-120 alternator has got only two cable...

  • Author

Hi people I have dismantle the alternator (90 amp) it is very noisy so I taked a 60-120 it has the regulator consumed I am looking another one...

However I am thinkig about recondition my motor, because I have to do a turbo modify... Have you any ideas of what component I have to check? (for status to evitate broken and have an affidable motor...)

Thank you Act...

P s for example is it well to lighteneen the crankshaft?

Edited by Act a fool

you could lighten the crank but it's probably not worth the expense... if you are doing a turbo conversion the most important thing to upgrade is the conrods. the original ones are not all that strong
