Initial in-car mongrel performance video

Featured Replies

Figured before any more changes are made to the software I would get some video of the in-car performance. :)

This software is verging on 4 years old, and am about to get a refresher. Still - going nicely for sure. :) Not sure on actual stats at the moment but I think I saw a rough 40 to 80 in under 5 seconds with a shift into 4th as well. :) Also, look! No Xmas tree lights on the dash (except fuel one....)

Have you driven it in the wet yet? What gears do you lose traction in in the dry?

Is a Diesel engine meant to spin up that fast?emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

That looks scary quickemoticon-0148-yes.gif

Was dry for this video and you can see, even with the diff, I lose 2nd gear sometimes, but it usually just heaves up 2nd to the redline / 55mph - The peloquin is awesome though and in the dry 3rd gear never spins, and even in the damp it's usually pretty good.

Looking really Good there  with a cracking turn of accelleration as it is .... Sounds really well to.. Almost not Diesel like :D

Is that your Engine cover you can hear chattering away at Tickover ? Or your Clutch ?

Well Done.

Cheers.

Dean

:o thats bloody quick. And it sounds amazing.

That will be general vibes from the Jabba dogbone mount, which is why the new tune has a raised tickover to kill the vibes. The shaking is probably just about the entire car but I am used to it now pretty much - It just feeds into the camera quite harshly as it was lashed to my steering wheel.

Awesome :thumbup:B)

Sweet

Been in a few "peppy" cars, but never seen figures change quite that fast b4

Feck me, that is quick :o

Sounds good too

Awesome :thumbup:B)

couldn't have put it better myself....

I've seen slower rev counters....

Mad car! Great work Jason....

very quick, sounds muchbetter inside than outside ;)

What revs does the turbo hit full boost? Say if you were to floor it in 3rd at 1000rpm, where does it hit full boost?

No idea yet as I have not done the measuring block 11 duty cycle checks to ensure the actuator is setup right. I think it is coming in too late. It is pretty much on full boost by 2200rpm, but I think this turbo is supposed to be able to spool up lower down than it currently is.

Fierce acceleration, I timed the last run 30-80mph in 5 or 6 seconds. Wasn't very scientific mind you, I just

looked at my watch. Good stuff

No wonder your fuel lights on, driving like that :giggle::D

That goes very well indeed and sounds rather nice aswell :)

I like it ALOT B)

Amazing!!!!

Bonkers! Close road testing I trust??!!

Was not even on a road, officer! and no, my video camera was not lashed to my steering wheel with parcel tape! :giggle:

Sounds great, Jason - rather "petroly" to my untrained ears - amazing difference to the sound of mine (which sounds a bit van-like)! Seems just a little bit fast, too!

In the video, you mention "race mode" on the ECU - is that a standard thing in the ECU (I know the auto Fabia's have "sport" and "economy" modes, but not sure about the manuals), or is that something that's been fiddled into it?

I was just referring to the adaptive ECU as I had pootled really quite slowly due to traffic, up to the place I went off the public highway. :)

These turbos tend to need a bit of heat in them too, mike's is quite soggy when it's cold but as soon as you've done a run or two it's happy :)

Didn't realise the ECU was as clever as that! Are you able to give a quick outline of what the adaptive ECU does (or rather, what changes, e.g. altered throttle response)? I'm just curious, as I don't really know much about the internal gubbins, and would like to know a little. :)

Not sure how it really works. Probably retards the VNT mechanism a little bit? Possibly also changes the ignition timing or something like that so you get good fuel economy on a long gentle run.
